  • Patent number: 4970884
Abstract: A steering wheel lock device comprises an elongate rod having a first hook member and a carriage member moveable on the rod carrying a second hook member. A lock mechanism on the carriage includes a ball which extends into a through passage on the carriage member to engage indentations on the rod. The ball is urged into the through passage by the action of a spring, which bears against a spring support mechanism, which moves between a locking position holding the ball into the indentation and an unlocking position wherein the ball moves against the spring.

  • Patent number: 4949561
Abstract: A device for securing the steering wheel of a vehicle has a lock housing with an axial bore for receiving a telescoping rod. A pair of legs extend from the housing at an acute angle relative to the axis and to one another. The rod extends from the bore in the opposite direction, and hook members are formed on each leg and the rod for engaging opposite sides of the steering wheel. The hook member on the rod, which is preferably an open, fan shaped jaw, is spaced a distance from the outer end of the rod, so that when the device is mounted on the steering wheel, the rod projects outwardly from the steering wheel and inhibits it from being turned.

  • Patent number: 4912454
Abstract: A vehicle warning system is provided having a plurality of light emitting diodes mounted on a rearward facing portion of a housing, that may be attached to the side of the vehicle. A switching transistor selectively supplies current to the LED's, through a flashing circuit. The base of the transistor is driven by electrical connection to the junction of first and second phototransistors, which are mounted on the housing and directed skywardly and rearwardly, respectively. During the day the skywardly pointing phototransistor grounds the base of the transistor so that the LED's remain off. At night, the LED's are turned on responsive to the headlights of an oncoming vehicle, which will activate the rearwardly facing phototransistor.

  • Patent number: 4857890
Abstract: A safety license plate frame includes a lens that extends around the frame and a plurality of mini-lamps located around the frame and connected in series between an input and ground. A running lights power circuit, including, in series, a running lights connecting wire and a resistor, is connected, to the input to provide current, at reduced voltage, to the lamps when the running lights are on. A brake lights power circuit, including a brake lights connector wire, is connected to the input in parallel with the running lights circuit, to provide current at a full 12 volts when the brake is depressed.

  • Patent number: 4798066
Abstract: An automobile ignition lock cover for steering column-mounted ignition locks includes a hollow cover housing having an open side to fit over the ignition lock. An L-shaped bracket has a first portion disposed inside the housing and fixed to the back wall of the housing. It also has a second, outside bracket portion that extends out through a slot in the lower portion of the cover. A chain is attached to the upper end of the cover. The free end of the chain is attached to the U-shaped shackle of an adjustable shackle lock assembly. The chain wraps around the steering column, and the shackle legs are inserted through one or a pair of holes in the outside bracket portion and locked snugly in place in the lock housing, which bears against the opposite side of the bracket or is attached thereto. The L-portion of the bracket is disposed inside the cover and extends forward under the ignition lock, to prevent the cover from being rotated.

  • Patent number: 4761720
Abstract: An illuminated tape includes an elongated, thin tape element composed of flexible, and at least partially translucent, plastic. A pair of longitudinally extending thin wires are embedded in the plastic, and a plurality of LED chips, also embedded in the plastic, are electrically connected in parallel between the wires. The electrical elements are therefore completely embedded in plastic producing a flexible illuminated tape which can operate off a low power source and which is waterproof and safe.

  • Patent number: 4658613
Abstract: An automobile anti-theft device includes a cover that fits over a steering column-mounted ignition lock, and a flexible element that wraps around the steering column and secures the cover thereto. A gear shift lock bar is attached to a sidewall of the cover, and extends laterally from the cover, wraps around a column-mounted gear shift lever, and includes a free end that extends back under the tension bearing element to be secured thereby. The device protects the ignition lock from tampering and in addition prevents the gear shift lever from being moved into gear in the event that the ignition lock is bypassed.
