Abstract: A system and method for facilitating data organization, for example in the organization of data in management of intellectual property records, is disclosed herein. Further, the present invention particularly provides a contextualization of information objects so that a full value of research and development (R&D) efforts can be accumulated by an organization. The system as disclosed herein collects information (raw) objects from a plurality of sources. Then, based on inferred context and user input, the system classifies each object in multiple dimensions according to needs of the application; and finally creates a high value, layer rich database embodying a context as well as a result to add value to a research process.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for creating secure electronic records using a smart device are disclosed. A smart device is authorized by connecting the device with a secure host computer. The host computer authorizes the smart device for a specified period of time. The user verifies that they are allowed to use the smart device to collect and create secure electronic records. Collecting electronic records then occurs. An encrypted wrapper for each record collected is created by encrypting each record. The smart device is then reconnected to the host computer. The host computer uploads the collected records and clears the device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for document and potential evidence management with smart devices is provided. The method includes the steps of authorizing a smart device, verifying a user of the smart device. The smart device is then used to collect a document or piece of potential evidence. As part of the collection process, the user may apply an electronically registerable marking to the electronic record. The electronic record is then uploaded to a record repository. The record repository is a relational database that builds relationships among the documents and potential evidence using the markings applied during the collection process.

Abstract: A system for record keeping in scientific, industrial, and commercial applications where records are used to document inventions and discoveries, such as in a research laboratory is disclosed and described herein. Such systems are referred to in the applicable field as Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELNs). Also disclosed is an improvement to ELNs such that a facilitated data integration step is performed in order to create connections and relationships between objects of information. The data integration step allows the researcher to bring together information from various record keeping systems, to include ambient, real-time data provided by voice. The integration is further facilitated by one of more of the following: graphical display, smart pen, data object manipulation; images from lab notebook pages, and a voice recognition capability.

Abstract: A calcia mold facecoat is applied to a mold for casting parts composed of reactive metals such as titanium and titanium aluminide. The facecoat is composed of a calcium carbonate based slurry comprising a dense grain calcium carbonate powder and an aqueous based binder. It is applied to a wax or plastic pattern used in the lost wax process for fabricating a casting shell. The mold is built using multiple dipping of alumina-silicate slurries, and then fired at high temperatures in an oxygen rich environment. The metal part is cast before the fired mold can cool below about 800.degree. C. Organometallic based slurry binders are avoided and significant cost savings are realized owing to the benign nature of the aqueous based suspensions with respect to the environment.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for deterring theft of manually operated wheeled vehicles, reducing unauthorized use and removal of steel or steel and plastic constructed swivel-wheel shopping carts by preventing the free movement of one or more of the installed wheels. Attached to the frame of the shopping cart, a braking device in accordance with the present invention, when activated, measures the distance traveled beyond an activating point by counting the number of wheel rotations made by the cart and compares this to a preprogrammed stored attribute that defines the allowable distance the cart is allowed to travel once outside the shopping facility. Depending on the direction the cart is travelling, the counter is "armed" or "disarmed" when the cart passes over low-frequency magnetic arrays placed at the entry or exit of the shopping facility.

Abstract: An improved apparatus for drying gel is provided and consists of a tray assembly having a surface on which the gel is disposed, a microwave oven for applying microwave energy to the gel in the tray assembly to uniformly dry the gel and a vacuum pump assembly for applying a vacuum to the tray assembly for removing water vapor therefrom during the drying of the gel.
