  • Publication number: 20060048288
Abstract: Eye goggles comprising an inner skeleton of a rigid material formed from a pair of transparent eye piece elements and an integral nose bridge element connected therebetween to permit relative movement between the eye piece elements and the nose bridge element. A covering partially covers the inner skeleton to define at least a pair of transparent regions in the eye piece elements. The eye goggles are simple and robust in structure and include an inner skeleton that acts to pre-shape the goggles and retain them in a desirable and comfortable configuration.

  • Publication number: 20040187196
Abstract: The present invention related to a nose-bridge for swimming goggles and swimming goggles having the nose-bridge of the present invention. The swimming goggles of the present invention include two eyepieces, each eyepiece accommodating a lens and having an inner end, each of the inner ends of the swimming goggles having a portion defining a hole therethrough. The nose bridge includes a strap for joining the inner ends of the eyepieces. The strap has first and second end portions and is slidably passable through each of the holes. In some embodiments, the nose bridge further includes a connector for connecting the first and second end portions when the strap is passed through the holes so that the strap forms a closed loop. The connector thereby allows for adjustment of the strap to vary the circumference of the loop and thereby adjust the distance between the eyepieces.

  • Patent number: 6119279
Abstract: Eye goggles comprising left hand and right hand eyepieces and a nosebridge interconnecting inner portions of the eyepieces. The nosebridge has at least two filaments, each filament having left hand and right hand end portions cooperating with respective eyepieces. A headband cooperates with outer portions of the eyepieces to extend therebetween. Spacing between the eyepieces is adjusted by positioning the goggles in a generally operative position and rotating one eyepiece relative to the other eyepiece through at least one revelation so that portions of the filaments are twisted together, thus tending to reduce spacing between the eyepieces.

  • Patent number: 5711035
Abstract: Eye goggles for use in different sporting activities to protect the eyes against harsh light and possible impact injury. The goggles comprise a goggles frame having a pair of eyepiece frames interconnected by a nosepiece, a pair of eyepiece lenses, and a goggles retainer to retain the goggles against the wearer's face. Each eyepiece frame has elongated and spaced apart inner and outer support elements in which the inner support elements are locatable between a wearer's face and an adjacent outer support element. The support elements are spaced apart by a plurality of relatively short spacer elements and extend in generally similar directions to define upper and lower edge portions of each eyepiece frame. The spacer elements are spaced apart along lengths of the support elements to provide ventilation openings located between the support elements and spacer elements.

  • Patent number: 5650866
Abstract: The invention provides a pair of goggles which can be used for a variety of recreational activities, such as swimming, cycling, ball games etc. The goggles comprise of a pair of eyepieces and a nosepiece. Each eyepiece has a lens and rim, each rim having a first connecting structure and a headstrap connecting structure to receive a headstrap. The nosepiece has a pair of second connecting structures, and a bridge structure disposed between and integral with the second connecting structure. Each second connecting structure is complementary to a respective first connecting structure of the pair of eyepieces and forms an essentially rigid interference fit therewith. Inner portions of the second connecting structure and outer portions of the bridge means are contiguous and inclined at respective angles to each other at a rigid joint which is sufficiently stiff to resist deformation when subjected to normal loads occurring during use.

  • Patent number: 5628072
Abstract: A pair of goggles comprises a goggles frame with a pair of eyepiece holders, a nosepiece extending between inner end portions of the eyepiece holders, and a head strap extending between outer end portions of the eyepiece holders. Each eyepiece holder has an opening with an eyepiece unit fitted therein, the eyepiece unit having an overall length less than length of the eyepiece opening to permit relative movement therebetween to vary interocular spacing between the eyepieces to accommodate persons having eyes at different spaces. Guides are provided at outer end portions and intermediate portions of the eyepiece units and eyepiece holders to ensure axial movement of the eyepiece units with respect to the eyepiece holder with negligible rotation therebetween. A locator is provided to limit relative movement between the eyepiece holder and eyepiece unit.

  • Patent number: 4755040
Abstract: Swim goggles have a pair of eye pieces, each eye piece having a lens with an essentially rigid peripheral frame. Each eye piece has a seal assembly which includes a seal holder and a seal gasket. The seal holder is secured to the frame and has a pair of spaced flanges extending in a direction generally away from the respective lens. Space between the flanges of the seal holder provides a groove extending around the eye piece and the seal holder is resiliently deformable but relatively stiff. The seal gasket is fitted within the space between the flanges and has an outer face standing clear of the flanges to contact the wearer's face. The seal gasket is resiliently deformable and softer than the seal holder to provide a secure but comfortable seal with the wearer's face. Selection of the relative resiliences of the seal holder and seal gasket permits accommodation to a wide variety of faces and extends use of the goggles. A swim mask with single lens provided with a seal assembly as above is an alternative.

  • Patent number: 4348775
Abstract: An eye protector to be secured over at least one eye and a head strap to attach the eye protector to the head of a wearer. There is an inner slot and an outer slot at one edge of the protector through which slots the head strap is positioned. There is a further slot extending outwardly from the outer slot to an outer edge of the protector, generally transverse to the outer slot. The strap may be engaged in the outer slot by feeding an edge of the strap through the generally transverse slot to engage in the outer slot. A strap to extend between the two eyepieces of an eye protector is also disclosed. The strap has a central thin, flexible section and end sections, one attached to each end of the flexible portion. The end sections are relatively stiff compared with the central section. Spaced projections formed on the relatively stiff sections. The head strap is easier to adjust than prior art straps and the nose strap acts to prevent leaks at the inner edges of the eyepieces.

  • Patent number: 4335271
Abstract: An electrical box. The box has a cable inlet opening. A flap is mounted within the opening at a first edge of the opening to tend to resile to the closed position. An indent in the edge of the flap, remote from the mount, contacts and grips a cable when such a cable is positioned in the inlet opening. The edge of the opening adjacent the indent is substantially non-deformable by a cable forced into the inlet. The box can be molded in one piece in most embodiments and a cable can be positioned in it without the use of tools.

  • Patent number: 4315100
Abstract: An electrical box adapted to receive an electrical fitting. There are openings formed in the box to align with openings formed in the fitting. Separate threaded portions are positionable within the openings and can move apart upon insertion of a screw. But the threaded portion grips the screw when the screw is rotated. The speed of installation is greater than is possible with prior art boxes.
