  • Patent number: 7108445
Abstract: An adapter is for use in cooperation with a post. The adapter includes an upper adapter portion which will be attached to a first part of the post, and a lower adapter portion which will be attached to a second part of the post. The adapter also includes a cylindrically helical spring connecting the upper adapter portion to the lower adapter portion so as to allow relative movement between the upper and lower adapter portions, including either rotational movement in which the post remains upright, or movement in which the first part of the post bends, or both. At least one of the two adapter portions is shaped to receive the helical spring as a screw.

  • Patent number: 5564221
Abstract: An animal trap entrance device for attachment to a container, so as to form an animal trap, is provided. The device includes a tube, a moveable member and moveable member stop disposed within the tube and a fitting attached to the outside of the tube for mating the device to the container.

  • Patent number: 5347747
Abstract: An improved animal trap 10 includes a housing 12 with a hinged lid 14 that may be locked in a closed position by way of a latch 18 and a pin 20. When the lid 14 is closed, a non-linear passageway is formed within the trap 10 with two rectangular cross-sectional passageways 22, 24 that are secured at a right angle to each other. External access to the non-linear passageway is made through an opening 26 in a wall of the housing 12. Each of the two passageways 22, 24 maintains a door 36, 38, respectively, that opens only inwardly with respect to the interior of the housing 12. The doors 36, 38 are substantially prevented from being opened from the inside of the housing 12 by way of the non-linear characteristic of the passageway and a corresponding pair of slotted pivot regions 32, 34, respectively. Animals are attracted to the trap 10 with bait that is confined within a protruding cylinder 42 having a mating cap 44.

  • Patent number: 4406402
Abstract: A flue gas heat recovery system comprises an exhaust gas to air heat exchanger, a hot air to water heat exchanger, a fan, a circulating pump, and a control system which senses the temperature of the exiting air from the air heat exchanger and the temperature of the water leaving the water heat exchanger in combination with the thermostatic sensed temperature of the hot water heating system in order to operate the system in a desired manner. The system may also be used for space heating purposes. The control system in conjunction with the air heat exchanger provides a fail safe system which can be used with solid fueled stoves and fireplace inserts as well as furnaces and hot water boilers without danger of water overheating even during electrical power outages.

  • Patent number: 4370920
Abstract: A rotating barbecue grill for uniformly and automatically cooking frankfurters, sausages, hamburgers, steaks, and other food items through the use of rotating rods or rollers defining a grilling surface. One of the rods is directly driven by a motor with the remaining rods rotating in unison by a crank-type drive mechanism. A hot plate is positioned adjacent one of the end rollers so that flat items of food, such as hamburgers, which cannot be turned between the rollers, are moved by the rollers to the hot plate and deposited thereon so as to keep them warm without overcooking.

  • Patent number: 4313721
Abstract: The present invention relates to oil burner combustion efficiency improving devices, known as diffusers, and particularly to such devices used in conjunction with gun-type pressurized oil burners. The present invention comprises a forwardly positioned cone having a central opening and a series of holes peripherally spaced around the central opening, a cylindrical member extending rearwardly from the periphery of the cone, and a back ring having a large central opening radially extending inwardly toward the central opening of the cone. The diffuser achieves nearly complete combustion of the emanating fuel oil from the spary nozzle with a minimum of excess air and with virtually no carbon deposit buildup on it or the oil burner components.

  • Patent number: 4230092
Abstract: The efficiency of a convective heating system employing an elongate firebox is dramatically increased by, inter alia, increasing combustion zone volume to approach that of the firebox and increasing residence time of rising combustibles at ignition temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4026264
Abstract: A portable heating unit which may quickly and easily be installed in an existing fireplace construction is described. The heating unit, with a controlled adaptable damper system, greatly increases the burning efficiency of the fuel and is designed to provide a circulating warm air stream for heating a room. The heating unit can quickly and easily be moved from the fireplace opening to restore the fireplace to its original operation when the extra heat is no longer needed. The portable heating unit may also be installed in a self-contained enclosure. This enclosure incorporates a triangular-shaped flue that interconnects with a nearby chimney. The triangular flue is constructed so as to connect with a chimney to the right or to the left of the heating unit enclosure thereby allowing one chimney to service more than one heating unit at the same floor level.
