An identity of a caller of a call received at an on hold system is authenticated. The call is then placed in a hold queue. A caller profile associated with the identity of the caller is retrieved, such that services available to the caller while on hold are specified according to the caller profile. In particular, the caller profile is preferably retrieved from at least one caller profile server according to the caller identifier, where the at least one caller profile server is accessible to multiple on hold systems. Further, the identity of a caller may be authenticated by authenticating a voice sample received from the caller, such that a single identity for the caller may be authenticated at multiple call centers.

    Abstract: A method, computer program product, and program for originating a billed transaction at an origin telephony device are provided. A request to originate a billed transaction is received from an origin device. The identity of a callee answering a call originated by the origin device is authenticated. Responsive to receiving an acceptance of the call by the callee, an account accessed by the authenticated identity of said callee is billed to complete said billed transaction, such that the origin device is enabled to initiate the billed transaction charged to the callee. In particular, a service associated with the billed transaction may only available for a particular callee or selection of callees. In addition, the callee may elect which account to charge for the billed transaction. Further, the identity of the caller originating the call at the origin device is forwarded to the callee.

At least one web page is selected for voice browsing by a particular caller waiting in a hold queue. The particular caller may be offered an incentive to voice browse the at least one web page, such that an on hold system housing the hold queue may promote voice browsing of specific web pages. Incentives may be in the form of points that are redeemable by the caller, for example, for adjustments in position within the call queue. In addition, the identity of the caller is preferably authenticated and a caller profile accessed according to the authenticated caller identity. Voice browsing web page selections may be tailored for the caller according to the caller profile.

Users participate by connecting through different types of networks using a device having a communication line connection. The recording can be in audio format, text format, or both. Thus, users can recall and replay textual information in addition to the recorded audio. Other information-such as time and user data-may also be recorded along with the audio and text. Users in the conference are identified to enable the association with them each user's contribution to the conference. The user or the user's device can assist by providing identification information. User identification may also be accomplished by associating each user's contribution with the particular line the user is calling from. Caller ID information may also be used to identify the user. Voice analysis may also performed to accomplish user identification.

A computer system executes a UNIX-based operating system and a desktop implemented in Java. The computer system does not include a separate window manager. Native UNIX applications are also presented by the computer system utilizing the same graphical user interface. Native UNIX applications interact with the window manager proxy in the same manner in which they would interact with a traditional window manager. The window manager proxy forwards frame window activity related to the desktop to the Java desktop, and is the native interface from the Java desktop to the native platform for frame window activities.

    Abstract: A system and method for identifying users dropped from a conference call and rejoining the user to the call upon reconnection. Users can participate in the conference by connecting through different types of networks using a device having one or more types of communication lines. When a user is disconnected before the end of the conference (due to a bad mobile phone connection, for example), a bookmark is placed in the recording indicating the disconnection point. When the user rejoins the conference, the user is given the option to begin listening to the conference at the point where the user was disconnected. The user can issue playback-type requests, such as play, rewind, fast forward, etc., to review missed information. Other users are alerted by a characteristic tone when a user disconnects from the conference and by another characteristic tone when the disconnected user rejoins the conference.

A call notification is sent to a telecommunication application server (“TAS”) of the enterprise that is not within the TSPN. The call notification is sent and the TSPN's processing of the call is delayed before the call is completed in order to permit an enterprise application of the TAS to begin processing for the call. The processing of the call is resumed responsive to notification from the TAS. The call notification may include first information for which the enterprise application finds associated second information, so that the callee receives the second information more nearly in concurrence with receiving the call.

In one embodiment, a first node sends a command request to a second node. The command request contains a command and a locale in which the text of the result is desired. The result generated by the second node in response to the command request includes one or more messages, wherein each message contains a unique message identifier, locale in which its associated text is stored, and text associated with the message. Responsive to a determination that the locale of the message text is in a locale different from a desired locale, the first node replaces the message text contained within the result with message text corresponding to the desired locale to produce a modified result and sends the modified result to the requesting client node.
