  • Patent number: 5690719
Abstract: A filter apparatus for mounting over an opening at an end of a forced air system duct has a filter frame with sidewalls between open front and back ends and a channel which opens inwardly of the sidewalls. At the front end is a sheet of preferably self charging electrostatic washable filter material behind a grill, both of which are peripherally disposed within the channel and are sized and sufficiently flexible so as to be removably insertable into the channel. A second sheet of a second filter material, preferably including activated charcoal, may be disposed in the channel behind the first sheet of filter material. The filter material may be made of a woven polypropylene and the sheet may have heat sealed finished edges. A wall mount having a support frame for mounting on a wall around the opening which extends through the wall is sized and operable to support the filter frame. The support frame may be mounted to a wall.

  • Patent number: 5525145
Abstract: A filter apparatus has a rigid housing surrounding a piece of preferably self charging electrostatic filter material and having a preferably magnetic attachment device for mounting the filter apparatus directly in front of a grill at an end of a cold air return or supply of a forced air system, for a heating and/or air conditioning system. The filter and housing are generally sized so that the frame does not cover any of the openings on the grill over which it is designed to be placed. Decorative openwork is positioned in the front of the filter material to provide an aesthetically pleasing covering of what is considered less than attractive filter material.

  • Patent number: 5042161
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sizing an intravascular graft which is to be secured on an existing vascular vessel. A sizing gauge having a handle with at least one sizing element of known diameter secured to an end of same is provided. Sizing elements of known diameter are inserted into the lumen of a vessel being grafted, one at a time, until one of a sizing element fits snugly in the lumen. A premanufactured graft is then selected according to the size of the snug-fitting sizing element.

  • Patent number: 4827929
Abstract: Improved surgical instruments which are angulated to facilitate improved clamping of vessels and suturing when used as a needle holder. Instrument arms are presented which are interrelated along their lengths to define a scissors type motion. The arms include proximal sections having holding and releasable locking capability, intermediate sections at an angle of preferably 80 to 100 degrees with respect to the proximal section, and distal jaw sections that are preferably generally parallel to the proximal sections. Instruments according to the present invention fulfill all the normal physiological and anatomical relationships of function of the hand at the wrist joint which affords improvement over present operative techniques.

  • Patent number: 4461296
Abstract: A saw blade is adapted for attachment to a power operated surgical saw having a blade element with teeth disposed along at least a portion of the periphery of same to define a cutting surface and having a saw connector receiving opening therein. A guard element is secured to the blade portion on at least one side thereof and extends outwardly therefrom in a direction transverse to the major axis of the blade. The guard portions are set at a predetermined distance from the cutting surface so as to define a depth of cut of the saw blade, whereby a surgeon may utilize the blade, either rotary type, or oscillatory type for sternal splitting incisions without the danger of too deep a cut to a point where injury to the heart and great vessels can occur. Likewise, blades according to the present invention can be utilized with greater safety for the patient in removal of casts and for orthopedic surgical purposes.
