  • Patent number: 6899571
Abstract: An electrical connector and method of making the same includes a radially resilient, cylindrical electrical contact member having a plurality of spaced strips extending between opposite ends of a sleeve. The ends of the strips are welded in the sleeve in an angularly offset, end-to-end position.

  • Patent number: 6752668
Abstract: An electrical connector employing a radially resistant barrel socket having a bore extending from one end which slidably receives an electrically conductive pin. A spacer member is disposed to space a stop member from the one end of the barrel socket. An inner diameter of a bore in the spacer member is greater than the inner diameter of the adjacent bores in the stop member and the barrel socket to define a recess which receives a projection carried on the pin which the pin is inserted into the barrel socket. An end cap is fixed over the stop member and the spacer member and to the barrel socket to resist axially outward flexure of an inner edge portion of the stop member upon the exertion of pull-out forces on the pin and the barrel socket tending to disengage the pin from the barrel socket.

  • Publication number: 20040003498
Abstract: An electrical connector and method of making the same includes a radially resilient, cylindrical electrical contact member having a plurality of spaced strips extending between opposite ends of a sleeve. The ends of the strips are held in one or more housings in an angularly offset, end-to-end position. The contact member and the sleeve are urged from the one or more housings into a cylindrical portion of a holder or use element to mount the connector directly in the holder or use element. In one aspect, the contact strips are formed as individual strips joined to the sleeve at one end and at the other end. In another aspect, at least one contact strip is formed with a movable detent releasably engagable in a recess in a pin insertable into the connector to lock the pin in the connector. In another aspect, at least one strip has an extension which overlays a portion of the bare wire end of an electrical conductor mounted in one end of a terminal.

  • Patent number: 4734063
Abstract: Various methods and techniques for making barrel terminals are disclosed, all of which are based upon the initial formation of the terminal contactor strips as an integral flat sheet metal blank produced by a conventional stamping operation. The contactor strips may thus be maintained in a predetermined relationship with each other and manipulated as a unit through successive assembly steps well adapted to be performed by automated tooling.Several contactor strip blank configurations are disclosed, together with assembly methods for forming and assembling the blanks into completed barrel terminals.

  • Patent number: 4657335
Abstract: A barrel terminal socket is constructed by forming a sheet metal blank with uniformly spaced, parallel, longitudinal strips integrally connected at their opposite ends to transversely extending webs. The blank is then formed into a cylinder, inserted into a close-fitting cylindrical sleeve and one end of the blank is fixedly secured to the sleeve. The opposite end of the blank is then rotated relative to the sleeve through a predetermined angle and then fixedly secured in its rotated position to the sleeve.
