  • Patent number: 9547335
Abstract: Embodiments describe a semi-transparent or transparent module antenna assembly disposed on a transparent portion of a user wearable device (e.g., a head wearable display or a smartwatch). Embodiments describe semi-transparent or transparent antenna assemblies disposed on portions of a wearable computing device not in direct contact with the user when the device is worn to increase the antenna's efficiency for receiving radio signals and to decrease the radiation absorbed by the user's body. Furthermore, the antenna is disposed on a transparent or semi-transparent surface to further increase the antenna's efficiency. For some embodiments utilized by head wearable displays, the portion of the device including the semi-transparent or transparent antenna assembly may be the optical system, which includes a transparent portion (e.g., a prism) for displaying CGI to a user; in other embodiments, the head wearable display including the semi-transparent or transparent antenna assembly is the lens.

  • Publication number: 20160161748
Abstract: A wearable computing device includes a bone conduction transducer, an extension arm, a light pass hole, and a flexible touch pad input circuit. When a user wears the device, the transducer contacts the user's head. A display is attached to a free end of an extension arm. The extension arm is pivotable such that a distance between the display and the user's eye is adjustable to provide the display at an optimum position. The light pass hole may include a light emitting diode and a flash. The touch pad input circuit may be adhered to at least one side arm such that parting lines are not provided between edges of the circuit and the side arm.

  • Publication number: 20160136482
Abstract: Several methods, devices and systems that provide features for improved activity sport sessions are described. In one embodiment, a multifunctional device includes an inertial measurement unit to sense movements of an activity device (e.g., a board, a surfboard, a windsurfing board, etc.) during an activity sport session and to sense at least one input for indicating a target location during the activity sport session. The device also includes at least one processing unit coupled to the inertial measurement unit. The at least one processing unit is configured to designate a target location in response to the inertial measurement unit sensing an input for indicating the target location, to record the target location, to determine a current location of the activity device, and to compare the current location and the target location. In one example, the at least one processing unit is further configured to generate a directional output if the target location and current location are different.

  • Patent number: 9143848
Abstract: A head-mounted wearable device assembly is provided that includes a bone conduction transducer (BCT) and an elastomeric isolation member that provides acoustic isolation between the BCT and a housing of the head-mounted wearable device assembly. The elastomeric isolation member may be a polyurethane material having a hardness (durometer) on the order of 60 A. The material arrangement and durometer may be chosen to provide a frequency response and/or acoustic leakage within a predetermined range, which results in high quality sound reproduction for the wearer. The elastomeric isolation member may be secured to an interior portion of the housing by a pair of mounting posts. The elastomeric isolation member physically and acoustically separates the BCT from the interior of the housing and other components therein.
