  • Patent number: 8162887
Abstract: An injection device comprises a syringe extendible against a spring bias from a retracted position in a housing to a projecting injecting position. A spring biased plunger has collapsible elbows which, when the plunger is released, initially engage the end of the syringe to drive it to the projecting position, whereupon arresting of the syringe movement causes the elbows to collapse inside the syringe to allow the plunger to engage and drive the bung.

Date of Patent: April 24, 2012
    Assignee: Abbott Biotechnology Ltd.

  • Patent number: 5803393
Abstract: A turntable has a drive for rotating it. A vertical control rod extending up alongside the turntable carries a dancer arm adjustably mounted thereon. The strip coming off the supply coil trains over the spool. A variable electrical control is adjacent the control rod and influenced by its rotary position. The control relates the speed of the turntable to whether the arm is inward or outward--whether there is greater or less demand for the strip. In the preferred version, a bias for the control rod urges the dancer arm outward in dampened fashion but more readily permits the arm to be drawn inward.

  • Patent number: 5669866
Abstract: Method and Apparatus for economically providing an automatic tool changing capability to a numerically controlled punch press, without the addition of servo drives dedicated to the tool changer. The punch press has a back rail carrying work clamps and positionable along an X axis for positioning the workpiece along that axis. The punch and die assembly is carried in a work head which is servo driven along a Y axis, so that the pair of servos accomplish X, Y positioning with respect to the workpiece. A plurality of tool cartridges are carried on the back rail. To accomplish a tool change operation, the X axis servo is indexed to bring a selected tool holder to a tool change position, and the remaining positioning for making the tool exchange (either into an empty cartridge or from a full cartridge) is accomplished by Y positioning of the tool head, without the need to alter the workpiece Y position or index an auxiliary mechanism for a tool change operation.

  • Patent number: 4979692
Abstract: A decoiling apparatus for strip or the like having a frame journaling a pair of spaced parallel powered rollers and a powered wheel on the frame out beyond and above the powered rollers. An arm is pivoted to the frame opposite the wheel and carries a freely spinnable turntable on its distal end. The unit is thereby convertible between a reel decoiler--wherein with the turntable arm up, the reel rests with its flanges on the powered rollers; and a pallet coil decoiler--wherein with the turntable down so that the underside of the turntable rides on the powered wheel the pallet coil is disposed flat on the powered turntable. Power unit measures the tension on the strip between the point of use and the decoiler and suitably speeds up or slows down the rollers and wheel to correspondingly speed up or slow down the decoiling.

  • Patent number: 4848694
Abstract: The strip decoiler of the invention has a dancer arm in a vertical plane which sets the speed of the decoiler turntable. The lower end of the dancer arm mounts an adjustable connection which in turn supports a spool shaft carrying a support spool. The spool shaft can be swiveled about so that the spool can support the decoiling strip evenly all across its width. The shaft is quickly and easily adjustable for use with clockwise or counterclockwise uncoiling.
