  • Publication number: 20210373619
Abstract: A cover interlock mechanism for drawer in a rack enclosure includes a first protrusion and a second protrusion coupled to opposing sides of the drawer, the protrusions being urged outward from the drawer, at least one structural component of the rack enclosure that engages the protrusions to prevent the drawer from being inserted into the rack enclosure, and a cover for the drawer having cavities that align with the protrusions when the cover is placed on the drawer to urge the protrusions toward the drawer to allow the drawer to be inserted into the rack enclosure. The protrusions may be urged outward from the drawer by flexible members attached to the drawer. The flexible members may be attached to bottom portions of sides of the drawer. The structural component may be a rail of the rack enclosure. The rail may be part of the framework of the rack enclosure.

  • Patent number: 8749966
Abstract: A data storage drive carrier configured for insertion into 2U or 3U slots not an electrocal chassis. The carrier has opposing side members and front and back members. A first side member is fixedly attached to the front member to form a rigid L-shaped portion of the carrier; and a second side member and the back member are pivotally attached to the L-shaped portion. The second one of side members and the back member are pivotally attached to the L-shaped portion at first ends and second ends thereof are attached to together to form a closed frame after receiving therein the drive. A light pipe is disposed within a groove formed in one of the side members, one end of the pipe being disposed adjacent to a light source of a rearward interposer to receive optical signal emitted by the source and an opposite end disposed adjacent a front end of the carrier.

  • Patent number: 8462495
Abstract: A cooling system having a enclosure, a plurality of disk drives stored in the enclosure, a first portion of the disk drives having housings with a first form factor and a second portion of the disk drives having housings with a second form factor smaller than the first form factor, and an air baffle system for directing a flow of air internal the enclosure over portions of the housing of the second portion of the disk drives while at the same time creating a wall to maintain the flow of air over neighboring ones of the first portion of the disk drives (the external flow).

  • Patent number: 8456832
Abstract: A data storage drive carrier configured for insertion into 2U or 3U slots of an electrical chassis. The carrier has a pair of opposing side members, at least one of the members being a flexible, inwardly bowed member and front and back members.

  • Patent number: 7883344
Abstract: An electrical connector having a dielectric housing. The housing has an elongated, vertically extending portion and a base portion. The base portion extends laterally beyond the elongated, vertically extending portion. The connector includes a pair of retention posts disposed through a portion of a base of the connector. The base of the housing has an alignment pin deposed between the retention posts for extending into a hole in the surface of the printed circuit board. A pair of dust cover members is insertable into sidewalls of the housing.

  • Patent number: 7507104
Abstract: Described is a single connector attachment (SCA) connector that improves blind mating between plug and receptacle SCA connectors. The SCA connector has an insulative shell with opposing end walls and opposing sidewalls. The end walls and sidewalls define a substantially rectangular recess within which a plurality of electrical contacts is disposed. One of the end walls of the shell has a chamfer. The slope of the chamfer enables plug and receptacle SCA connectors to continue coming together although their respective housings may come against each other before the alignment guiding features of the SCA connectors are able to achieve alignment.

  • Patent number: 7211739
Abstract: An electromagnetic interference and radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI) shield adapted to reduce unwanted EMI/RFI from a shielded cable assembly—equipment enclosure interface. The EMI/RFI shield includes one or more conductive walls extending substantially perpendicular from an outer surface of the shielded enclosure. The one or more walls are positioned adjacent to sides of a panel-mounted connector. Each of the walls includes an EMI/RFI gasket segment coupled thereto, each gasket segment positioned to engage compressibly a respective side of a shielded cable assembly when it is coupled to the panel-mounted connector. Each engaged side of the shielded cable assembly is in electrically conductive contact with the shielded equipment enclosure through the respective EMI/RFI gasket segment and adjoining wall. Additionally, the EMI/RFI shield provides mechanical support to the interconnected cable assembly further reducing EMI/RFI by improving alignment of the coupled connector.

  • Patent number: 7188916
Abstract: Described is an adjustable side rail having a first elongate rail portion, a second elongate rail portion, and a tab projecting from one end of one of the first and second elongate rail portions. The second elongate rail portion has spatially separated opposing upper and lower grooves. Each groove slidingly receives one of the top and bottom edges of the first elongate rail portion when the first elongate rail portion engages the second elongate rail portion. The tab has a side edge with a notch formed therein for catching an edge of a hole in a mounting rail into which the tab is inserted and for anchoring the one end of that elongate rail portion to the mounting rail while a length of the side rail is adjusted.

  • Patent number: 7097477
Abstract: An improved interconnection assembly is configured to couple to only one of a first daughter card having a first arrangement of connectors and a second daughter card having a second arrangement of connectors. The interconnection assembly includes a motherboard and motherboard connectors. The motherboard connectors are adapted to couple to one of the first arrangement of connectors of the first daughter card and the second arrangement of connectors of the second daughter card. The interconnection assembly further includes a stopper attached to the motherboard. The stopper is adapted to provide interference against the other of the first arrangement of connectors of the first daughter card and the second arrangement of connectors of the second daughter card to prevent the motherboard connectors from contacting the other of the first arrangement of connectors of the first daughter card and the second arrangement of connectors of the second daughter card.
