  • Patent number: 4901623
Abstract: An autoloading shotgun having a receiver, a barrel projecting from the receiver, a magazine tube supported on the receiver in parallel relation to the barrel, a generally cylindrical gas cylinder mounted in fixed position relative to the barrel and coaxially surrounding relation to an associated portion of the magazine tube, and in an annular piston received within the gas chamber and coaxially surrounding an associated portion of the magazine tube and supported for movement along the magazine tube and toward and away from the receiver. The gas cylinder, magazine tube and piston cooperate to define an annular a gas chamber in communication with the shotgun bore. An obturation ring coaxially surrounding the magazine tube forward of the gas cylinder is biased into engagement with an annular seating surface on the forward end of the gas cylinder to provide a closure for gas ports communicating with the gas chamber and opening through the seating surface.

  • Patent number: 4677781
Abstract: A proven sporting type shotgun with the stock removed therefrom converted to a military combat type weapon by addition of a retrofit assembly which includes a retrofit housing containing the trigger of the basic sporting shotgun and at least a portion of the shotgun receiver. The trigger of the shotgun is operated by an elongated trigger connector assembly operably connected to a primary trigger supported on the retrofit housing forward of the shotgun trigger. The gun safety mechanism includes a blocking cam biased to a blocking position wherein it engages an abutment surface on the trigger guard of the shotgun to prevent movement of the shotgun trigger to its firing position. A cam roller carried by the trigger connector assembly cammingly engages the blocking cam during inital rearward movement of the primary trigger to move the blocking cam to a releasing position relative to the shotgun trigger.

  • Patent number: 4128957
Abstract: A double-action revolver has a hammer assembly which includes a mechanism for positively defining the displacement and the engagement positions of the sear to insure accurate and smooth coaction of the sear with the trigger mechanism. The trigger assembly includes a cylinder-actuating hand, trigger lever, and transfer slide which is raised by the trigger to a position where it is struck by the hammer to percuss the firing pin. Percussing of the firing pin can only be accomplished by coaction of the trigger and hammer, thereby eliminating the requirement for a hammer block or other safety device. The handle of the revolver includes a wedge-shaped section adapted to fit snugly in the web of the palm between the thumb and first finger, while the butt of the handle fits in the hypothenar eminence area of the palm, so that the handle will be stably held at both its upper and lower ends during the firing cycle of the revolver, to prevent bucking or twisting of the revolver when it is discharged.

  • Patent number: 3962809
Abstract: A hammer block member is rotatably mounted near the path of travel of the hammer of a revolver and is biased to rotate into the hammer path of travel to prevent the hammer from reaching the point at which it will cause the discharge of the cartridge in the firing chamber of the cylinder. The cylinder advance hand contacts the blocking member and rotates it out of the hammer path of travel when the hand is raised to advance the cylinder during the firing operation of the revolver.
