Abstract: A combination night light and aquarium is disclosed having a bowl including a body portion, a bottom portion connected to the body portion, and a neck portion at a top of the bowl defining an opening at the top of the bowl, wherein the bottom portion is dimensioned to fit on the central portion when the bowl is placed on top of the base; a lid dimensioned to fit over the first opening at the top of the bowl, wherein the lid includes an inner edge portion defining an opening through the lid; and a hollow member removably or fixedly attached to the lid, the member extending into the bowl and dimensioned to receive light emitted by the one or more lighting elements when the lid is placed on top of the bowl.

Abstract: A process for characterizing the phase of an organic material in a thin film comprises employing a reference spectrum library for potential phases, subjecting the film to a vibrational spectroscopy measurement to obtain a resulting spectrum; and comparing the resulting spectrum to those in the reference library to characterize the phase of the organic material.

Abstract: A process for producing a vacuum interrupter chamber includes placing spacers in bodily contact with a soldering foil and joining the spacers to the soldering foil or fixing them in a displacement-proof fashion on specially made dents in the foil, so that they can be fixed for the purpose of a reliable and simple assembly. Degassing gaps are left between soldering spacers, on which a cover of the interrupter chamber rests. The vacuum interrupter chamber is evacuated in a single furnace cycle and soldered.

Abstract: A vacuum switch chamber includes a ceramic body having two ends, two cylinder halves defining an encompassing parting line between the halves and an internal groove along the parting line. Metal caps close both of the ends. Mutually movable conductor bolts penetrate the ends. Switch contacts are disposed on the conductor bolts at a switch location. A two-part shield surrounds the switch location and has bent, adjoining, axially oriented, intermeshing inner and outer ends engaging the internal groove and spanning the parting line. The outer end has tabs distributed over the periphery of the shield and oriented toward the ceramic body.

Abstract: A spring-loaded pivoting end plate that is hinged such that it is deployed by centrifugal force into the airstream to thereby act as an aerodynamic brake for wind turbines in overspeed conditions. The brake has a stationary portion fixed on the tip of the turbine rotor and a pivoting portion hinged for movement with respect to the fixed portion. The longitudinal centerline of the brake coincides with the chord line of the turbine blade and the pivoting movement is about a hinge axis that is normal to the rotational plane of the turbine. The planform of the brake has a low aspect ratio shape with the ratio of the fore and aft chordwise length to the width being one or greater. The edges of the brake in the normal running condition extend beyond the contour of the turbine blade to serve as an end plate such that the aerodynamic efficiency of the blade is improved thereby.

Abstract: A strake, or strakes, or faired simulation of same, mounted on a typical engine nacelle or similar wing mounted body to reduce or prevent the formation of vortices usually occurring with nacelle-wing combinations to improve the lift and drag characteristics of the combination and improve the stability of the aircraft since the undesireable variations of downwash changes over the tail surfaces are reduced or eliminated.
