Patent number: 12338322Abstract: In various aspects, a cured polymer glass may be provided. The cured polymer glass may include a polymer glass component (such as an epoxide component and an amine component), and an azobenzene photo-responsive modifying agent. The modifying agent may cause a reversible transition in the cured polymer glass from a first state to a second state when the modifying agent is exposed to a light condition (such as specific wavelengths of light). The glass transition temperature (Tg) of the cured polymer glass may be at least 100° C. The first state may have at least one different mechanical property than the second state. The reversible transition may be configured to occur when the cured polymer glass is at a first temperature below a Tg of the cured polymer glass.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2023Date of Patent: June 24, 2025Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the ArmyInventors: Joseph M. Patent number: 11794796Abstract: A system and method is proposed to ensure detection of signal light integrity and viewability. The system includes a wireless network of signal light monitors attached unobtrusively to the sun visors on each signal light for which monitoring is required. Each signal light monitor includes diverse sensors which detect signal light integrity and viewability. The detection sensors are simultaneously active to detect signal light intensity, color intensity and viewability. The information obtained from the sensors is transmitted wirelessly to a base signal light monitor. The base signal light monitor communicates this information over a mesh network to an edge processor. The network is self-healing and ensures data integrity using a pre-calculated communication link if a communication link between base signal light monitors is lost or broken. The edge processor is capable of image and condition analysis on the detection data and communicates events to an enterprise network for action.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2019Date of Patent: October 24, 2023Assignee: TEKTRACKING, LLCInventors: Joseph M. Denny, Muhammad Mohsin Naseer, Gregory P. Fogarty

Patent number: 10941295Abstract: Resin compositions made of high-performance polymers blended with molecular glass as rheological modifiers are disclosed. The high-performance polymers include thermoplastics, such as polysulfones, polyimides, poly(ether imides), polyketones, poly(ether ketones), and combinations thereof. The molecular glasses are amorphous, non-oligomeric, and have one or more functional groups that promote miscibility of the molecular glass with the high-performance polymers to produce a resin composition with low melt viscosity. Incorporation of the molecular glasses into the high-performance polymers does not alter the Young's modulus and yield stress values of the high-performance polymers.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2018Date of Patent: March 9, 2021Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Joseph M Dennis, Robert D Allen
