    Abstract: A method is provided for measuring or estimating stress distributions on heart valve leaflets by obtaining three-dimensional images of the heart valve leaflets, segmenting the heart valve leaflets in the three-dimensional images by capturing locally varying thicknesses of the heart valve leaflets in three-dimensional image data to generate an image-derived patient-specific model of the heart valve leaflets, and applying the image-derived patient-specific model of the heart valve leaflets to a finite element analysis (FEA) algorithm to estimate stresses on the heart valve leaflets. The images of the heart valve leaflets may be obtained using real-time 3D transesophageal echocardiography (rt-3DTEE). Volumetric images of the mitral valve at mid-systole may be analyzed by user-initialized segmentation and 3D deformable modeling with continuous medial representation to obtain, a compact representation of shape.

    Abstract: A banding machine includes a tube guide adapted to transfer an elastomeric tube from an entry end to an exit end. A frame assembly receives the elastomeric tube from the exit end. A drive assembly is carried by the frame assembly and includes a drive shaft which rotates a drive wheel that advances the elastomeric tube through the frame assembly. A knife guide assembly receives a reciprocating knife to cut the elastomeric tube to form a band. A stretcher assembly with stretcher fingers maintained substantially adjacent one another in a first position receives the band, the stretcher fingers then expand the band to a second position to receive an object upon which the band closes around.

The controller includes logic for calculating a dew point temperature based on the temperature and the relative humidity. The controller also includes logic for selecting a region of operation based on at least one of the dew point temperature and the relative humidity, where the region of operation is representative of ambient conditions that surround the cooled compartment. The controller further includes logic for determining if the at least one heat source is activated based on the region of operation.

    Abstract: An automatic dialer for controlling access to a long-distance telephone network. The automatic dialer includes a read/write memory. Each time the user attempts to call through the network a telephone number inaccessible via the network, an entry representing the area code and/or exchange of that telephone number is made in the memory. Prior to calling the network, the dialer compares the destination telephone number with the entries in the memory; the call is placed via the network only if the area code and exchange of the destination number do not match any of the entries. The entries in the memory are ordered according to recency of attempts by the user to access a telephone number within the groups of telephone numbers represented by the entries; when the memory is filled, the oldest entry is deleted to make room for the newest entry.
