  • Patent number: 5199613
Abstract: A smooth pouring spout for attachment to a container having an opening in a upper wall thereof, has a device for locking and sealing the spout to the container. The pouring spout includes two component parts. A flat ring is adapted to surround the opening with the ring having radially inwardly directed flexible fingers and a spout member is insertable through the ring and the opening in the container to flex the fingers into a gripping relationship with a continuous edge of the container surrounding the opening. The spout member includes a large passage through which liquid can be removed from the container while air is introduced into the container through a smaller passage.

  • Patent number: 4752291
Abstract: An equipment for supplying veterinary medicament from a supply tube to an applicator comprises a generally cylindrical body having a passage therethrough including a large chamber for receiving the discharge end of a supply tube and a communicating passage of smaller diameter to receive the nozzle of the supply tube. The body is made of a hard synthetic plastic, and internal threads near the discharge end of the smaller passage are arranged to engage the nozzle and when it is turned cut threads thereon and hold the nozzle securely in position in the adapter. The adapter may be used repeatedly with successive supply tubes.

  • Patent number: 4696258
Abstract: A substance for facilitating the detection of estrus applied to the tailhead and rump of a cow as a patch comprises a mass of microencapsulated dye mixed in a suitable paint. The paint dries as a durable layer the color of which will change when substantial pressure is applied for a predetermined time. Should the cow be mounted by another animal for say five seconds or more a large portion of the microcapsules will break and release the dye which colors the patch. The cows with colored patches can then be found by periodic inspection and removed from the herd for insemination.

  • Patent number: 4596572
Abstract: A device for transferring a liquid from a bottle at substantially atmospheric pressure to a bottle at a low pressure comprises a hollow needle of steel or the like mounted in a grip or handle member having a configuration to facilitate the pushing of the needle through a bottle stopper at either end of the device. The needle is sharply pointed at both ends and the handle consists of a strip of steel or other suitable metal bent at its ends to provide stops having holes to accommodate the needle which extends beyond the stop at each end. The strip is bent or bowed toward the center portion of the needle and is soldered or otherwise secured to the needle. The sloping portions of the strip provide thumb rests for pushing the needle in either direction.

  • Patent number: 4539985
Abstract: An aspirator and resuscitator for newborn animals comprising a cylindrical accordion bellows and adaptors for removing fluids from the nasal and oral passages and for delivering air to and removing air from the breathing passages. The bellows and an adaptor are connected to a central handle which is also the fluid conductor between the bellows and the adaptor. The position and arrangement of the handle provide an effective grip for the whole hand and facilitate the holding and operating of the device effectively and quickly and with safety for the animal. An arrangement is provided for assuring effective and uniform stacking or compressing of the bellows pleats and minimizing the likelihood of damage to the bellows during use.

  • Patent number: 4317530
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved piston operated pump for viscous materials wherein the entrapment of air bubbles in the viscous material is reduced by placing a spring in the pump cylinder. The spring is the same diameter as the pump cylinder and is about as long as the length of travel of the piston. The spring is conical in shape so that it may be fully compressed without substantially affecting the capacity of the pump cylinder or the length of the piston stroke.

  • Patent number: 4050460
Abstract: A liquid feed injector for young animals and particularly calves comprises a collapsible reservoir and a rigid probe or feed tube connected by a relatively short length of flexible tubing. A fitting or closure cup for the reservoir is provided with an outlet nipple about which the flexible tube is attached and sealed. The construction facilitates the one-handed manipulation of the feeder while holding the animal's head with the other, the flexible tube acting as a shut-off valve during manipulation for placing the tube in the animal's throat. The reservoir may be flattened or rolled with the one hand during discharge of the fluid.

  • Patent number: 3952919
Abstract: An adapter for attaching and sealing a liquid supply reservoir on a liquid dispenser of the metering type comprises a reservoir receiving body and a detachable element for securing the body to a dispenser with a seal piercing needle in position to receive the contents of the reservoir. A pivoted clamp is provided for clamping the reservoir on the body when the seal has been pierced and holds the reservoir securely to the body during use of the dispenser. A nut secures the detachable element on the dispenser, a spring bias being provided to afford adjustment of the element with respect to the nut. A check valve is provided to prevent return of liquid to the reservoir and facilitates the use of collapsible supply reservoirs.
