  • Patent number: 5070437
Abstract: A submersible light includes a generally cylindrical housing body having a closed end and an open end. A light emitting diode and a plurality of batteries are provided in the body, and an end cap for the open end actuates the light by flexing a lead of the light emitting diode into engagement with the batteries. A clamp ring is provided on the outside of the cylindrical housing body under which a line can slip for snap-on attachment of the light to a fishing line and the like.

  • Patent number: 4807384
Abstract: A fishing-rod holder having dual actuation whereby the pivoting of the fishing-rod holder due to the pull of a fish or due to the release of a fishing line from a weight will actuate an alarm. The fishing-rod holder includes a holster portion for receiving and holding a rod, a first mount member supportably attached to the holster portion, and a second mount member for engaging a fixed support such as the railing of a fishing boat. The first mount member includes a housing for pivotally receiving the second mount member, a tension-adjustment spring for the pivoting of the first mount member on the second mount member, and jacks mounted in the housing and including switches actuated by the pivoting of the first member on the second member. An external alarm device can be provided in the captain's cabin for indicating which of a plurality of fishing-rod holders has indicated the strike of a fish.

  • Patent number: 4641453
Abstract: A fishing rod holder including a holster portion, a mount pivotally attached to the holster portion and including a first bolt extending from the mount with a bracket engaging the first bolt, and an alarm integral with the holster portion and including a switch which is actuated by the pivoting of the holster portion on the mount in response to the pull of a fish. A strap is provided on the holster portion and is positionable for retaining either a conventional rod and reel or a rod with a spinning reel. The mount includes a second bolt which extends into the arm and engages the switch upon pivoting of the holster portion. A spring is positioned on the second bolt for yieldably separating the second bolt and the switch thereby adjusting the force required to actuate the switch.

  • Patent number: 4506257
Abstract: A simple and rugged alarm which is versatile in application includes a battery connected through first and second parallel switches to a light and buzzer alarm. The first switch comprises a first contact formed in a conductive plate and yieldably biased to an open position and a lever actuated cam for rotatably engaging and moving the first contact to a closed position. The second switch includes a second contact formed in the conductive plate which is yieldably biased to a closed position and a retractable pin for supporting the second contact in an open position.

  • Patent number: 4398185
Abstract: A fishing alarm which is simple, economical to fabricate, and rugged includes an injection molded housing with a battery and alarms mounted in the housing. The battery, alarm, electrical interconnect, and switch actuator are readily mounted in the housing. The switch includes a planar member with two conductive layers on one major surface. A rotatable pin extends through the planar member with a wiper blade fastened to one end of the pin in contact with one conductive layer and rotatable into contact with the other conductive layer. A lever is attached to the other end of the pin and extends through the housing. A fishing line engages the lever and the pull on the line rotates the pin and wiper blade to actuate the alarm. A manually operable screw engages the pin or planar member to establish drag on the switch.
