  • Patent number: 10663679
Abstract: An assembly tool for terminating an optical fiber with an optical fiber connector comprises a base having a connector cradle to hold said connector, a buffer clamp activation shuttle slideably disposed on the base to push a sleeve over a buffer clamp of the connector, and an activation mechanism pivotally mounted to the base. The activation mechanism includes an actuation lever to press a securing cap over a mechanical element in the connector, and a drive shaft coupled to the actuation lever. Moving the actuation lever from a first position to a second position activates the buffer clamp activation shuttle and presses the securing cap over the mechanical element.

  • Patent number: 8879883
Abstract: An inlet device is described for inserting a cable containing optical fibers into a telecommunications enclosure. The inlet device includes a housing with a strength member securing section configured to fasten at least one strength member to the housing. The inlet device further includes a fiber guide device. The inlet device may be used in a single fiber optical cable assembly or multi-fiber optical cable assembly. A method for preparing a cable assembly is also described. A telecommunications enclosure including an inlet device is also described.

  • Patent number: 8442375
Abstract: An assembly tool for installing an optical fiber in an optical connector includes a base and a protrusion setting station. The base includes a connector mount disposed in the base. The connector mount can be configured to receive and secure the optical connector on the base where the connector has a housing and a connector ferrule. The protrusion setting station enables the craftsperson to set distance (or protrusion) that a terminal end of the optical fiber extends from an end face of the connector ferrule. The protrusion station includes a light source to illuminate the terminal end of the optical fiber, at least one black body absorber to eliminate unwanted reflected light and a window to visualize the terminal end of the optical fiber protruding from the end face of the connector ferrule.

  • Publication number: 20110052133
Abstract: A fiber organizer tray comprises a generally rectangular or oblong body having a first side and an opposite second side. The first side is configured to route and provide slack storage for a plurality of jacketed cables. The first side includes a winding cable guide that routes multiple jacketed cables a predetermined distance in a manner in which the multiple jacketed cables do not cross over themselves and do not experience a cable bend that violates a minimum bend radius of an optical fiber portion of the jacketed cable. The second side of the organizer tray is configured to route and splice a plurality of the drop cables to a plurality of optical fiber pigtails. The fiber organizer tray can be implemented in a telecommunication enclosure having a distribution management unit and a jacketed cable management unit disposed therein.
