Abstract: An audio signal is compressed in an audio coordinate system using gain factors applied in another audio coordinate system. A first component and a second component in a first audio coordinate system is generated from a third component and a fourth component of the audio signal in a second audio coordinate system. An amplitude threshold defining a level for each of the third component and the fourth component for applying compression is determined. A gain factor for the first component is generated using a compression ratio. The gain factor is applied to the first component when one of the third component or the fourth component exceeds the amplitude threshold to generate an adjusted first component. A first output channel and a second output channel in the second audio coordinate system is generated using the adjusted first component and the second component in the first audio coordinate system.

The system includes circuitry that generates a first rotated component and a second rotated component by rotating a pair of audio signal components. The circuitry generates left quadrature components that are out of phase with each other using the first rotated component and generates right quadrature components that are out of phase with each other using the second rotated component. The circuitry generates orthogonal correlation transform (OCT) components based on the left and right quadrature components. Each OCT component including a weighted combination of a left quadrature component and a right quadrature component. The circuitry generates a mono output channel using one or more of the OCT components.

The first and second output channels are each limited below the amplitude threshold from application of the one or more gain factors.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to audio processing for opposite facing speaker configurations that results in multiple optimal listening regions around the speakers. A system includes a left speaker and a right speaker in an opposite facing speaker configuration, and a crosstalk cancellation processor connected with the left speaker and the right speaker. The crosstalk cancellation processor applies a crosstalk cancellation to an input audio signal to generate left and right output channels. The left output channel is provided to the left speaker and the right output channel is provided to the right speaker to generate sound including multiple crosstalk cancelled listening regions that are spaced apart.
