    Abstract: A vision testing system is provided that tests the vision of an associated patient. A display of the vision testing unit includes a first surface for displaying a vision test thereon. A processing unit is operatively associated with the display and selectively displays optotypes on the first surface. A monitoring system senses a distance between the associated patient and the display, and operationally interfaces with the processing unit to provide data representative of the distance of the associated patient from the display. A cue may be provided to the associated patient in response to the sensed distance. In addition, ambient lighting conditions may be sensed at the display and brightness of the display altered in response to the ambient light.

The first and second datasets together comprise an authentication key that uniquely identifies the object and, in turn, the user. The authentication key is scanned by a device in response to a prompt from the digital asset to obtain scanned key data. Predetermined key data and a device identifier indicative of the authorized device are stored in a database. Access to the digital asset is allowed when the scanned key data matches the stored predetermined key data, and when the device scanning the data is authorized.

Each identifier key serves as an address for its corresponding authentication key in the database. A product and a security seal are displayed on a webpage served by a website. An identifier key and an authentication key for the displayed product are encoded into the security seal. In response to selecting the security seal, the website extracts the encoded identifier key and authentication keys, and sends them to the database. The authentication server determines whether the displayed product is genuine and authorized when a match is made between the extracted keys and the stored keys.

The method includes having a patient identify and read the optotypes, noting which line of optotypes at which the patient can correctly identify all of the optotypes in the first chart, confirming that the patient has correctly identified all of the optotypes in the line of the first chart, and then presenting a second chart of optotypes wherein each line of the second chart progressively decreases in one of size or in contrast of the optotype relative to a background. The size or contrast of the noted line of optotypes from the first chart that the patient correctly identified is presented as either a first line of optotypes or a second line of optotypes on the second chart.
