A virtual reality simulation of a user's view of a simulated virtual reality environment is generated and output for display on a virtual reality display, the virtual reality environment comprising the graphical user interface. The graphical user interface comprises one or more selectable cells positioned within the simulated virtual reality environment at one or more corresponding fixed positions within the virtual reality environment relative to a position of the user within the virtual reality environment, the one or more fixed positions being independent of the direction of view of the user.
