  • Publication number: 20090141659
Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium are disclosed for discovering the topology of a network by using multiple discovery agents operating in parallel. A NodeList containing information about known nodes in a target network is received. The number (‘K’) of discovery agents to be used is determined, where 1<=K<=TotalNumberOfNodes). The nodes are partitioned into node groups, each of which has a group identifier respectively assigning it to a discovery agent ‘M’ where 1<=M<=K. A GraphList is created to hold information about known and discovered nodes. Each entry in the NodeList list is processed by its assigned discovery agent ‘M’, which sends probe messages to the target node to determine the node identifiers of discovered neighboring nodes. If the discovered nodes are not listed in the NodeList, then they are assigned to a node group for processing. If the connections between the target and the discovered neighboring node nodes are not listed in the GraphList, then they are added.

  • Patent number: 7460619
Abstract: A method and system for optimizing coding gain that alters the backsearch buffer length and/or the input buffer length of a decoder in response to one or more transmission performance characteristics of the system. The performance characteristics are monitored to determine the performance of the system. The measured transmission performance characteristics are used to control the lengths of the backsearch buffer and the input buffer. The measured transmission performance characteristics along with the backsearch length and/or the input buffer length are analyzed and compared with simulated decoding results. In accordance with the simulated results, the system determines the optimal size of the backsearch buffer and the input buffer needed to achieve a desired performance target. The system adjusts the size of the backsearch buffer length and/or the input buffer length to equal the determined optimal lengths.

  • Publication number: 20080195497
Abstract: Methods and/or systems for providing preauthorization and transaction settlement for a transaction using a prepaid unit-based presentation instrument are disclosed, wherein the presentation instrument includes a unit balance. The method may include receiving a preauthorization request that includes a price-per-unit and a preauthorization amount. The methods and/or systems may then determine whether the unit balance is sufficient to cover the preauthorization amount. If the unit balance is sufficient to cover the preauthorization amount, the presentation instrument is authorized for the transaction. If the unit balance is insufficient to cover the preauthorization amount, a currency balance is determined from the unit balance and the price-per-unit, authorizing the presentation instrument for a transaction up to the currency balance and sending an indication that the currency balance is authorized for the transaction.

  • Patent number: 7375636
Abstract: A highly efficient and versatile system for high speed functional testing of finished RFID tags. Common materials are used in key areas, like the antenna enclosure 3a and 3b, to cut the cost of the system. A standard RFID reader (11) is used along with a real time microcontroller (13) and sensors (5, 7) to test each tag on a continuous web (21) good or bad. Bad tags can be ignored, marked, or removed from the web. The system is designed to be mounted to existing press and rewind equipment, enabling an incremental investment in RFID technology.

  • Publication number: 20080104642
Abstract: An aircraft cabin management system that provides passengers and crew with a number of entertainment and productivity enhancing options. Such options include, without limitation, audio, video, control and status of aircraft data systems and electro-mechanical devices. Located proximate to each seat and in various other strategic locations throughout the cabin is a control unit that acts as the primary means of passenger and crew interaction with the cabin management system. Using a multi-cast distribution methodology, over wired or wireless distribution, allows for an unlimited number of clients to have access to each available audio/video program. This allows the system to be fully scalable from a small 4 seat mobile platform to a large 800+ seat mobile platform. While particularly drawn to aircraft, the cabin management system is also applicable to other venues that have identifiable seating locations such as buses, passenger ships, hotels and auditoriums.

  • Publication number: 20080059954
Abstract: A system and method for emulating or monitoring the communications behavior of any system component connected to a data bus. These functions are accomplished through the implementation of software component emulators (SCE) that encode and decode message data for any system component automatically. The present invention includes a means for development of an interface specification based on information contained in an Interface Control Document (ICD), and enables the user to create the ICD file without having to worry about formatting considerations, and view and define message data in a meaningful, human-readable format. The information in the ICD is automatically reduced to an application that combines the user-friendly, time-efficient aspects of a traditional SCE with the flexibility and universality of a bus monitor.

  • Patent number: 7313848
Abstract: A dual action canopy release for releasably holding a parachute harness securement strap in a buckle. The canopy release may be activated by a forward movement of a lever arm or a rearward movement of the lever arm. The lever arm cooperates with an actuating lever having a first position, wherein the actuating lever holds a latch in a locked position, and a second position, wherein the actuating lever releases the latch thereby allowing the latch to move to an unlocked position. Either the forward movement or the rearward movement of the lever arm causes the actuating lever to move to the second position. In the unlocked position, the latch allows parachute harness securement strap to be withdrawn from the buckle.
