Patent number: 8585016Abstract: The invention provides a demolition tool that can be used in many ways for the demolition of construction materials or other materials. The demolition tool includes a handle having a head at one end. The head has a longitudinal central plane that bisects the head, a strike contact face, and toothed, stepped grasping jaws that accommodate multiple sizes of lumber or other material. The head may also include a blunt blade edge below the strike contact face for striking and demolishing material. The demolition tool includes a bent end pry bar at a second end of the handle. The bent end pry bar being offset 90 degrees from the longitudinal central plane of the tool head enabling full range of motion without interfering with other tool functions. The demolition tool may comprise a single piece of material and may be softer than tools used to strike it, but harder than materials which it is used to strike.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2008Date of Patent: November 19, 2013Assignee: Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.Inventors: Christopher Woolley, Michael Maruskiak, Joseph Martone, Eric Ranieri, Russell Powers

Patent number: 7676940Abstract: A level includes a body having first and second arms attached to each other for relative pivotal movement about a pivot axis between open and closed positions. The level also includes a bubble vial mounted to the body and having a longitudinal axis coaxial with the pivot axis. Movement of the arms from their closed position to their open position exposes a measurement portion of the first bubble vial for use. Movement of the arms from their open position to their closed position shields the measurement portion of the first bubble vial within the body to protect the bubble vial from damage during storage.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2008Date of Patent: March 16, 2010Assignee: The Stanley WorksInventors: James Spaulding, Joseph Martone

Patent number: 7364320Abstract: A handheld flashlight includes a head that pivots relative to a body. Three legs pivotally connect to the body and open into a tripod to support the head in an elevated position. The legs are spring-biased toward the open tripod position and are selectively held closed by a detent mechanism. In the closed position, the legs form a flashlight handle that is aligned with an illumination direction of the head and is shaped and sized to be held in the hand of an operator. Each of the three legs contain battery source holders for battery sources that connect to each other in parallel. Diodes are disposed in series with each battery source to prevent the parallel battery sources from discharging each other.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2006Date of Patent: April 29, 2008Assignee: The Stanley WorksInventors: Gary Van Deursen, Joseph Martone, Vincent Cook, Michael Kwok Ying Chan

Patent number: 7316074Abstract: A level having a body with first and second operative walls interconnected by a web. The first wall having a first exterior operative surface and the second wall having a second exterior operative surface. The first surface and the second surface facing in opposite directions and being generally parallel to one another and the first exterior operative surface having an opening. The body further comprising a stop structure disposed between the operative walls. The level also including a level vial carried by the body and a magnet disposed in the opening and having one end abutting the stop structure. The magnet having an opposite end adjacent the first exterior operative surface for magnetically attracting a workpiece engaged with the first exterior operative surface. Another embodiment of a level includes a reinforcing wall disposed closer to the first operative wall than the second operative wall, with the reinforcing wall cooperating with the first operative wall to generally define a cavity.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2007Date of Patent: January 8, 2008Assignee: The Stanley WorksInventors: Tho D. Tran, Joseph Martone

Patent number: 7296909Abstract: A handheld flashlight includes a head that pivots relative to a body. At least two legs pivotally connect to the body at a fixed location along the body, and open into an extended, open or deployed position to support the head in an elevated position. In the closed or handheld flashlight position, the legs form a flashlight handle that is aligned with an illumination direction of the head and is shaped and sized to be held in the hand of an operator. Each of the legs may contain battery source holders for battery sources that connect to each other.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2006Date of Patent: November 20, 2007Assignee: The Stanley WorksInventors: Gary Van Deursen, Joseph Martone, Vincent Cook, Michael Kwok Ying Chan
