  • Publication number: 20190130320
Abstract: A network computer system operates to arrange transport for delivery orders in a given region, in accordance with a set of provisioning parameters, including a service value parameter, and at least one of a service batching parameter or a service range parameter. For an upcoming time interval, the network computer system determines a forecast for at least one of a number of service requests or a number of available service providers. A provisioning level determination may be made for the given region during the upcoming time interval, based at least in part on the forecast. The set of provisioning parameters may be adjusted to adjust the provisioning level to a desired target.

  • Publication number: 20130030549
Abstract: A lower limb prosthesis for a transfemoral amputee, having a shin portion, ankle portion and a forefoot part of the foot portion formed as an integral fibre-reinforced plastics leaf spring component. This integral component is adjustably mounted to a knee joint which has a knee chassis, a cradle pivotally connected to and depending from the knee chassis, and a flexion control unit in the form of a piston and cylinder assembly interconnecting the knee chassis and the cradle. The shin portion has an elongate resilient section of constant cross-section oriented substantially vertically. The connection of this resilient section to the knee joint cradle and the arrangement of the cradle is such that the vertical distance between the knee axis of rotation and the location of the connection is less than 25% of the vertical distance between the knee axis and the lowest weight-bearing surface of the foot portion.

  • Publication number: 20100275354
Abstract: The invention provides for a toilet seat that significantly reduces flush noise. The toilet seat is designed with dosed cell rubber gaskets that help keep sound from getting out of the toilet bowl, but allows equalizing air pressure into the toilet bowl to ensure proper flushing as a totally sealed toilet bowl will not flush properly, The flexible rubber gaskets are attached to the bottom of the toilet lid and the bottom of the seat to seal lid to seat and seat to bowl when the lid and seat are closed. The rubber gasket employs a saw-toothed lip to help assist air flow into the toilet bowl by making the seal less rigid. The toilet seat is designed to fit standard round or oval U.S. toilets, Sound reduction is significant and is between 10 and 20 decibels or approximately a 40% noise reduction based on sound testing.

  • Patent number: 6972020
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved orthopedic system for the modification of the distance between the maxilla and zygoma. In a preferred embodiment, the system includes proximal and distal footplates attached to an orthopedic device. The distal footplate is attached to the zygoma, with the proximal footplate being mechanically coupled to the maxilla. This mechanical coupling is achieved either through attachment directly to the maxilla or by attachment to a construct which is then wired to the patient's teeth. The orthopedic device, which may be a distractor, allows for modification of the distance between the maxilla and zygoma. The entire system can advantageously be placed intra-orally within a patient. In a preferred embodiment, the footplates are also detachable from the orthopedic device and are composed of a bioresorbable material, such that they will be absorbed by the patient's body. Methods for using this novel orthopedic system are also disclosed.
