Abstract: The present invention is concerned with client-side production in a personal computer environment of low bandwidth images and audio. A series of low bandwidth still images along with a “script” and audio data is sent over a network in a client/server architecture or is read from a compact disk or other memory. A “director” module residing in a client personal computer uses the “script” to tell the computer how to execute a sequence of “moves” on the still images. These moves include cuts, dissolves, fades, wipes, focuses, flying planes and digital video effects such as push and pull. Moves within a still image occur in real time, and are relatively smooth and continuous as compared to prior art network video. Low bandwidth is achieved because most of the production is done at the client location without relying upon slow, bandwidth-limited downloading of conventional network video formats.

Abstract: A protective body has an opening for receiving a hanging clip of a tape measure, knife, or other portable object. The protective body and opening are preferably sized and shaped to receive substantially all of the hanging clip, or at least the region of the clip immediately adjacent to the object, to cover any unsmooth edges of the hanging clip so they do not cut into the wear's belt, pocket, etc.

Abstract: A method for preparing a solid support material for carrying out a chemical reaction, said method comprising the following steps: (i) reacting an amino functionalised solid material with a carboxylic acid having at least two similarly protected amino groups to form amide bonds between them, (ii) removing protecting groups in a single step, (iii) optionally repeating steps (i) and (ii) one or more times using the product of the preceding step as the amino functionalised solid material, and (iv) connecting a linkage agent to at least some of the free NH2 groups of the product. The method increases the loading capacity of the solid support material. It is particularly useful in connection with peptide synthesis.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of a salt of 5-phenylpentanoyl-(S)-arginyl-(S)-alanyl-{(S)-2-[(R)-3-amino-2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl]propionyl}-(S)-alanyl-(S)-arginyl-(S)-alanyl-4-aminophenylacetamide (SEQ ID NO: 1) which comprises deprotection of a compound of the formula II or a salt thereof: wherein Pg and R1 are defined in the description. Also claimed are intermediates used in the process and the processes for the preparation of the intermediates.

Abstract: A differential pressure measuring device of the three diaphragm type is disclosed in which the measuring in diaphragm is isolated from the substance being measured by a pair of sealing diaphragms. The measuring diaphragm is included in a cell assembly that provides overrange protection for the measuring diaphragm and isolation of the measuring diaphragm from the influence of static pressure induced housing strains.
