  • Patent number: 5294965
Abstract: An apparatus which compensates for the velocity mismatch between a roll fuser and an image receiver. A vacuum belt transport disposed intermediate the fuser and the image receiver is adapted to have its downstream end pivoted for forming a controlled buckle in an image substrate such as plain paper.

  • Patent number: 4871158
Abstract: A copying/finisher system is described as having a compiling station for receiving a collated copy set prior to stapling. The compiling station is defined by a reciprocably movable, horizontally arranged collecting plate upon which the copy sheets are collected. The arrangement presents the leading edge of the sheets to the clamping position of one or more staplers. After collection of the copy sheets, the leading edge of the set is clamped and stapled while the plate is moved to permit dropping of the finishing set.

  • Patent number: 4768771
Abstract: A device for feeding successive sheets without overlapping the sheets includes a loading chute having a recess formed therein at the exit end for guiding individual sheets, a pivotally mounted retractable gate at the exit end of the chute which when in the closed position extends into the chute recess, means to retract the gate so that a sheet may be fed from the chute including means to release the gate from the retracted position after the leading edge of the sheet has passed the closed position of the gate and before the trailing edge of the sheet has passed the closed position of the gate. The release permits the gate to float against the sheet in the recessed portion of the chute so that when the trailing edge of the sheet being fed passes under the gate, the gate drops of its own weight into the recess thereby blocking passage of the next sheet. In a preferred embodiment the loading chute is inclined to the horizontal.

  • Patent number: 4508444
Abstract: A multimode document handling apparatus and reproducing apparatus containing same are described wherein the document handling apparatus comprises an upper frame portion pivotally mounted along its rear edge to a lower base frame portion to provide open and closed positions of the upper frame relative to the lower frame. The lower frame contains a substantially horizontal imaging platen and document transport defining a generally horizontal document transport path. The upper portion contains a vertically inclined document loading chute the lower exit portion of which intersects the generally horizontal document transport path. The document loading chute includes a gate to permit loading of successive copies in the chute while preventing it from being fed as the preceding document is being copied.

  • Patent number: 4247095
Abstract: A sheet feeding and registering apparatus includes a document platen, a single wide document transport belt and a sheet registration member. The sheet registration member is a linear member with a plurality of lower registration edges at a first level above the platen and a plurality of sheet stripping portions raised to a level above the first level and forming therewith a series of undulations. The raised sheet stripping portions are inclined to a direction opposite the direction of sheet transport and with the document platen form a small sheet corner capturing cavity. When feeding a slightly skewed sheet to the registration edge the lead corner is first stripped from the transport belt, then physically captured by the cavity and pivoted about its lead edge until it is fully registered against the registration member.

  • Patent number: 4009034
Abstract: Method and apparatus for processing dry film. The non-emulsion side of the film is placed in contact with a plate surface that is at or above the developing threshold potential of the film. A second heated plate surface, at the same temperature as the first plate surface, is placed in close non-contiguous relation with the exposed emulsion side of the film whereby the film is heated under adiabatic conditions during processing. The film is removed from the developing region and allowed to cool in air.
