  • Patent number: 6407357
Abstract: A method for resistance projecting welding the components of a current sensor is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of providing a first blade having a projection extending outward and a first conductor, supporting the first blade and the first conductor, positioning the first blade adjacent to the first conductor so that the projection of the first blade contacts an opposed surface on the first conductor defining a contact area, supplying an electrical current of a predetermined magnitude and predetermined duration to the first blade and the first conductor to create a weld at the contact area and continually applying a compressing force of a predetermined magnitude to the first blade throughout the supplying step to resistance projection weld the first blade and the first conductor at the contact area. The present method overcomes the drawbacks of the prior art by providing an alternative method to fabricate current sensors.

  • Publication number: 20020046864
Abstract: A method is described for joining electrically conducting members using an apparatus having a pin typically formed of a material harder than the electrically conducting members. The apparatus causes the pin to rotate at high speeds between the electrically conducting members, wherein the rotating pin causes a portion of material from each electrically conducting member to plasticize and solidify a joint. By translating the apparatus along the joint, the pair of electrically conducting members can be joined without requiring the inclusion of additional filler material.

  • Patent number: 6352193
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for joining electrically conductive materials by friction stir welding. The apparatus includes a shaft portion for being received by a rotation imparting apparatus, and a second end having a cut-away portion configured for deflecting plasticized material during friction stir welding. A pilot formed of a material harder than the electrically conductive material extends from the second end. The pilot is configured and dimensioned for friction stir welding electrically conductive members together.

  • Patent number: 5286934
Abstract: A molded case circuit breaker movable contact arm electrically connects with the circuit breaker load terminal requiring only a small diameter auxiliary electrical braid conductor by pivotally arranging the contact arm within its support. The braid conductor is electrically connected with the movable contact arm by means of an off-set connector plate to provide strain relief to the braid conductor.

  • Patent number: 4999464
Abstract: A molded case circuit breaker movable contact arm electrically connects with the circuit breaker load terminal requiring only a small diameter auxiliary electrical conducting braid by pivotally arranging the contact arm within its support. The contact arm is nickel-plated prior to attachment of the contact to insure high current circuit interruption withtout damage to the contact or the contact arm.

  • Patent number: 4525703
Abstract: A portable alarm is provided with a smoke detecting mechanism and circuit connected to an audible signal activated on the presence of smoke and all contained in a compact housing. To this conventional combination the invention interposes a connector means in the circuit between the detector and alarm which connector means includes a highly visible elongated external hanging electrical lead that is plugged into an opening in the housing to complete the circuit through the electrical lead thus, at all times, conspicuously indicating the armed/unarmed condition of the alarm.

  • Patent number: 4384030
Abstract: An improved sealant for battery cells is disclosed. The new sealant is prepared by mixing trichloroethane with asphalt. This composition, is less flammable than known battery cell sealants and, when appiled to the seal ring of a battery cell, yields unexpected improvements in preventing leakage of electrolyte from the battery cell.
