  • Patent number: 7350884
Abstract: Described is an equipment tray having integrated rail guides. The tray has a base sized for supporting a unit of electronic equipment, a back wall extending perpendicularly from the base at a back end of the tray, and opposing side walls spatially separated by the base. Each side wall extends from front to back to meet the back wall. Each side wall has at least one upper rail guide and at least one lower rail guide extending laterally from that side wall. The at least one lower rail guide is spatially separated from and opposite to the at least one upper rail guide. The upper and lower rail guides slidably engage a portion of a side rail when the tray is installed in the cabinet rack. Each side wall also has a flange at the front end for attaching the tray to a mounting rail of a cabinet rack.

  • Patent number: 7222983
Abstract: A front panel assembly is capable of being used with an electronic equipment rack configured to support electronic circuitry having multiple LEDs (e.g., a rack mount data storage system having a row of disk drives). The front panel assembly includes a cover portion configured to separate an external space in front of the electronic equipment rack and an internal space within the electronic equipment rack. The front panel assembly further includes an attachment portion configured to attach to the electronic equipment rack, and a reflective member configured to reflect light from the multiple LEDs simultaneously in a direction toward the external space.

  • Patent number: 6826057
Abstract: An electronic cabinet having a set of vertically-oriented frame members, a set of fasteners attached to the set of vertically-oriented frame members, and a panel. The panel includes a cover, a set of latches coupled to the cover, and a set of buttons. When the set of latches engages the set of fasteners to secure the panel to the set of vertically-oriented frame members and when the set of buttons is depressed, the set of buttons disengages the set of latches from the set of fasteners to release the panel from the set of vertically-oriented frame members. Such a configuration enables a user to fully remove the panel from the cabinet without having to disconnect a hinge as for conventional hinged panels. Furthermore, such a configuration is well-suited for employing a locking mechanism that controls depression of the set of buttons to provide secure equipment access.

  • Patent number: 6560098
Abstract: A disk drive module is adapted to be slidably disposed within the chassis of a data storage system. The disk drive module includes a fiber channel disk drive for storing data, an upper carrier sled mounted onto the disk drive and a lower carrier sled mounted onto the disk drive. A bezel assembly is snap mounted onto the upper and lower carrier sleds. The bezel assembly includes a bezel which is capable of lateral displacement relative to the upper carrier sled, an ejector pivotally mounted onto the bezel for releasably locking the disk drive module within the chassis, and a latch for releasably locking the position of the ejector. An adaptive spring includes a first end which is mounted onto the upper carrier sled and a second end which abuts against the bezel, the adaptive spring resiliently urging the bezel away from the upper carrier sled.

  • Patent number: 5687089
Abstract: A drive regulator circuit board for use with a 3.50 inch disk drive unit. The drive regulator circuit board includes a regulator section for receiving +24 volts distributed power and providing therefrom regulated +5V and +12V DC power, a monitor circuit for monitoring the +5V DC and +12V DC so generated, a SCSI bus reset pulser circuit for generating a SCSI bus reset pulse upon insertion or removal of the drive module, PALS for comparing the local address with an incoming address, control and for turning the DC voltages on or off in response to certain prearranged commands as well as providing SCSI bus activity indication, and a bus for providing SCSI ID information to said 3.50 inch disk drive unit.

  • Patent number: 5371743
Abstract: A method for providing on-line replacement of a module which is at a specified position in an array of modules connected to a common control processor so that all other modules in the array can continue operating during the replacement operation. When the module is removed an indication is provided to the control processor showing that removal has occurred and identifying the position thereof. When the replacement has occurred an indication thereof is provided to the control processor, the replacement module is tested, and the state of the replacement module is updated to place it in the same state it would have been in if it had not been replaced.

  • Patent number: 4733366
Abstract: Logic circuitry for use in electrical apparatus for providing an interrupt signal to a controller when there is a power failure in the electrical apparatus. The logic circuitry is connected to a bus from the controller. When the logic circuitry receives a power failure signal, it sets an interrupt state register and provides an interrupt signal on the bus as long as the interrupt state register is set. If the power failure signal no longer indicates a power failure, the logic circuitry responds to a signal from the controller indicating that the interrupt has been received by resetting the interrupt state register, thereby ending the interrupt. However, if the power failure signal is still active, the logic circuitry will not reset the interrupt state register in response to the signal from the controller.

  • Patent number: 4436251
Abstract: Apparatus for winding a preselected, programmable amount of tape under a predetermined level of tension is described. The tape is automatically placed under the predetermined level of tension prior to actually winding the tape onto the hub. The tape is fed at a variable speed according to a look-up table, while it is wound onto a hub, and is servoloop controlled so as to maintain constant tension on the tape as the speed at which the tape is fed changes.
