Publication number: 20140039551Abstract: Suture anchor devices, methods, and systems allow a surgeon to link multiple suture anchors together with a common suture. A structure in each of the suture anchors is provided for threading a common suture or other threadlike member through multiple suture anchors in different suturing configurations. The suture anchor device allows a suture end to be loaded into the suture anchor after deployment of the anchor into bone.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 3, 2012Publication date: February 6, 2014Inventor: Joseph P. Patent number: 7154515Abstract: A method and apparatus for eliminating artifacts in images formed using more than one image segment. A buffer region associated with two adjacent image segments is defined wherein the intensity levels of the pixels are attenuated. When image segments substantially overlap in the buffer region, the intensity in the buffer region substantially sums to full scale. The intensity of the pixels in the buffer region is preferably attenuated using a device to modulate the intensity of the source of radiation.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2001Date of Patent: December 26, 2006Assignee: PerkinElmer, Inc.Inventors: Joseph P. Donahue, William A. Hart

Patent number: 6903809Abstract: An integrated, in-line bumping and exposure system for printing plates or other substrates having a photosensitive layer. A linear illumination source or sources are for bumping the photosensitive material with a band of illumination to consume dissolved oxygen within the photosensitive layer. A raster scan optical assembly or an illuminated and re-imaged spatial light modulator array exposes the photosensitive material with a rasterized beam or beams or an array of modulated electromagnetic radiation located downstream of the bumping illumination. A conveyance mechanism is configured to provide relative continuous motion between one or more substrates and the bands of illumination to continuously bump and pattern one portion of the plate or plates while the other portion of the plate or plates is bumped in anticipation of patterning.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2004Date of Patent: June 7, 2005Assignee: PerkinElmer, Inc.Inventors: Joseph P. Donahue, Norman L. Shaver

Patent number: 6084706Abstract: A laser scanner includes an optical relay which reforms an image from a scan lens at a location that provides additional working distance. The optical relay contains primarily reflective elements which provide achromatic focusing for ultraviolet light. One embodiment of the optical relay has a magnifying power of about 1 and use spherical mirrors in a configuration where image distortion and aberrations cancels. A second optical relay provides a reduction in image size using aspherical mirrors such as parabolic and elliptical mirrors. An additional lens cancels distortion and aberration introduced in the second optical relay. The additional working distance allows insertion optical devices such as beamsplitters and chevron correction and autofocus optics in the optical path of the optical relay.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1998Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: Etec Systems, Inc.Inventors: John M. Tamkin, Joseph P. Donahue
