  • Patent number: 7527631
Abstract: A gauge (10) for measuring bone contour (12) of a bone(4) for use in joint arthroplasty is provided. The gauge (10) includes a body (14) and a probe (16). The body (14) has a body contact portion of the body (14) for contact with the bone (4). The probe (16) is movably positional with respect to the body (14). The probe (16) includes a probe contact portion of the probe (16) for contact with the bone (4). The relative position of the probe (16) with respect to the body (14) is indicative of the bone contour (12) of the bone (4).

  • Publication number: 20080269906
Abstract: A method of preparing for a surgical procedure includes creating a three-dimensional bone model of a subject bone of a patient. At least a portion of the bone model is compared to at least one three-dimensional reference anatomic model. At least one structural difference between the bone model and the at least one reference anatomic model is identified. At least one desired subject bone structural change is specified to produce a modified bone model responsive to the step of identifying at least one structural difference between the bone model and the at least one reference anatomic model. An apparatus for preparing for a surgical procedure is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6699289
Abstract: A glenoid component for securement to a glenoid surface of a scapula so as to provide a bearing surface for a head portion of a humerus includes a body having a first surface configured to contact the glenoid surface of the scapula and a second surface configured to receive the head portion of the humerus. The glenoid component also includes an interruption such as a buttress extending from the body. The interruption is configured to be received in a like-configured notch formed in the glenoid surface of the scapula. The interruption helps prevent movement of the glenoid component relative to the glenoid surface of the scapula after implant. The body also may include anchoring extending from the body for penetrating the glenoid surface of the scapula so as to help secure the body to the glenoid surface of the scapula. The glenoid component is used in one application to help correct bone defects and in another application for wear.
