  • Patent number: 4763936
Abstract: An automobile door latch has a fork-type latch bolt, a detent lever which automatically retains the bolt in a closed-latched position in a manual-closed operating mode of the latch when the door is manually swung to the closed position, a manually actuated release lever which moves the detent lever to a releasing position releasing the bolt in a manual-open operating mode of the latch, and a power operating means which power rotates the bolt from an ajar-latched position to the closed-latched position in a power-closed operating mode of the latch and which moves the detent lever to the releasing position in a power-open operating mode of the latch. The door latch further includes an electrical control which automatically actuates the latch in the power-closed operating mode when the latch bolt achieves the ajar-latched position and which permits random sequencing of the manual and the power operating modes of the latch.

  • Patent number: 4672709
Abstract: A drive for a tandem windshield wiper system including a driver's side wiper blade and a passenger side wiper blade wherein the driver's primary vision area is wiped twice during each tandem stroke of the wiper blades. The drive includes a unidirectional electric motor with a crank arm, a rotatable drive plate connected to the passenger's side wiper blade, a driver's side crank arm connected to the driver's side wiper blade, a transverse drive link connected to the motor crank arm and linearly reciprocated thereby, linkage between the drive link and the drive plate operative to convert reciprocation of the drive link to angular oscillation of the drive plate and passenger side wiper blade, and a transverse operating link between the drive plate and the driver's side crank arm operative to transfer angular oscillation of the drive plate to the crank arm and driver's side wiper blade in tandem fashion.

  • Patent number: 4670695
Abstract: A control for an electrically powered, motor vehicle windshield wiper system with independent drive motors for the wiper blades which produces an opposing wiper pattern with overlapping park and which is simple and inexpensive to manufacture by providing a unique switching system which coordinates the blades to prevent interference therebetween and converts simply and effectively, when the system is turned off, to a blade parking control which allows continuation of normal blade movement into a predetermined park position. The control provides switch control for the motor of each wiper blade in response to certain predetermined positions of the other blade, including, in particular, a position adjacent but outside the wipe pattern of the other blade wherein the controlled blade may be stopped if necessary to avoid interference.

  • Patent number: 4476416
Abstract: Power window control apparatus for a motor vehicle window includes a motor actuatable to drive the window toward a predetermined position, an operator controlled actuator effective only during actuation to actuate the motor, a further actuator effective upon actuation of the operator controlled actuator for a time intermediate first and second predetermined time periods to maintain actuation of the motor after deactivation of the operator controlled actuator and an automatic deactivator effective to stop the motor and deactivate the further actuator when the window reaches the predetermined position. The window thus moves under operator control for very short or long movements but can be set to move under automatic control by actuation of the single operator control for a specified intermediate time duration.

  • Patent number: 4365180
Abstract: A strip of toothed arcuate segments connected end-to-end is wound around a mandrel to form a core structure for a dynamoelectric machine. The length of the arcuate segments is such that the junctions between axially adjacent segments are sandwiched between solid portions of core material.
