Publication number: 20150292242Abstract: An enclosure includes a body portion having a first slotted opening, a top portion including a rotatable lid component to provide access to an interior compartment of the enclosure. A locking assembly integral with the lid component includes an actuator component rotatably coupled to a side surface of the lid component and having a first threaded end portion and an actuator axis. The locking assembly further includes a drive cylinder having a second threaded end portion configured to receive the first threaded portion of the actuator component, wherein the drive cylinder is slideably coupled to the lid component. Rotation of the actuator component from a first position to a second position causes the drive cylinder to translate parallel to the actuator axis. The locking assembly further includes a first latch structure rigidly coupled to the drive cylinder to engage and disengage the first slotted opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 7, 2015Publication date: October 15, 2015Inventor: Joseph P. Patent number: 7672108Abstract: A circuit or fault interrupting and disconnect device includes a tripping apparatus that ensures a vacuum interrupter of the device is opened upon initiation of a change of state of an associated disconnect blade assembly. The disconnect blade assembly may have an open state and a closed state. A drive mechanism couples to the blade assembly to move the blade assembly to its various states. The drive mechanism couples to the interrupter trip assembly to provide for opening of the contacts of the vacuum interrupter prior to the blade assembly making or breaking contact.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2006Date of Patent: March 2, 2010Assignee: S & C Electric CompanyInventors: Joseph P. Patent number: 6628494Abstract: A multi-pole protective device and system for electrical power transmission and distribution systems is provided that operates a multi-pole tripping system at ground level from a line-potential tripping device contained within each pole of the multi-pole system. The system includes multiple pole-unit assemblies each of which is totally self-contained and generates a tripping signal in response to overcurrent conditions to operate a ground-potential operating mechanism. In one arrangement, the pole units each include an internal line-potential tripping arrangement that communicates a trip signal to a ground-potential operating mechanism of the pole unit and associated pole units of the protective device arrangement. In a preferred arrangement, the line-potential tripping arrangement includes an insulated member that is moved to transmit the trip signal from line potential to ground potential.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2001Date of Patent: September 30, 2003Assignee: S&C Electric Co.Inventors: John C. Publication number: 20020021540Abstract: A multi-pole protective device and system for electrical power transmission and distribution systems is provided that operates a multi-pole tripping system at ground level from a line-potential tripping device contained within each pole of the multi-pole system. The system includes multiple pole-unit assemblies each of which is responsive to sensed overcurrents to provide a tripping signal. Each of the pole-unit assemblies is totally self-contained and generates a tripping signal in response to overcurrent conditions to operate a ground-potential operating mechanism. In one arrangement, the pole units each include an internal line-potential tripping arrangement that communicates a trip signal to a ground-potential operating mechanism of the pole unit and associated pole units of the protective device arrangement. Each pole unit also includes an interrupter operated by the ground-potential operating mechanism to open the interrupter.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 26, 2001Publication date: February 21, 2002Inventors: John C. Patent number: 4777559Abstract: An article mounting and handling arrangement is provided for use with an enclosure to allow access to and replacement of the articles in a position removed from the operating environment. The arrangement is especially adapted for fuses and other electrical devices. Accordingly, the arrangement for use with fuses provides access to the fuses in a position disconnected from an associated circuit and to provide connection of the fuses to the associated circuit in an inaccessible position. The fuse mounting and handling arrangement is mounted with respect to the enclosure for translation along a predetermined direction between a first, accessible position outside the enclosure and a second position with the fuses being within the enclosure. The fuse mounting and handling arrangement is also pivotally mounted with respect to an axis parallel to the direction of translation.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1984Date of Patent: October 11, 1988Assignee: S&C Electric CompanyInventors: Chester Bar, Joseph P. Moninski, Jr.

Mounting for an article which permits movement thereof between inaccessible and accessible positions
Patent number: 4463227Abstract: A mounting for an article, such as a high-voltage fuse. The article may be located inaccessibly behind a wall or accessibly in front of the wall. The wall may form a part of an enclosure and contains an opening. The article is affixed to one surface of a panel. The panel is attached to the wall so that it may be simultaneously moved and translated (or pivoted) end-for-end (or side-for-side) relative to the opening to selectively move the article between its two locations. The panel covers or blocks the opening in both locations of the article. The panel may be attached to the wall by rollers mounted at or near one end of the panel and by links pivotally connected between the wall and the panel. The rollers are guided to move generally along or coplanarly with the opening by channels on the wall adjacent to the opening. In this way, substantially all of the movement and translation of the panel may occur in front of the wall.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1982Date of Patent: July 31, 1984Assignee: S&C Electric CompanyInventors: Edmund S. Dizon, Joseph P. Moninski, Jr. -
Patent number: 4405844Abstract: A door interlock for electrical apparatus, which may include a switch, within an enclosure, permits the door of the enclosure to be opened only if the electrical apparatus is in a predetermined condition, such as switch-closed. Once the switch has been opened, the door may be opened. The interlock prevents the switch from being reclosed as long as the door is open. A latch holds the door closed if the switch is closed, if the door is locked closed by a door lock, or if both conditions obtain. If the switch is opened while the door is locked closed by the door lock, the latch continues to latch the door closed. If the door lock is unlocked while the switch remains closed, the door latch likewise latches the door closed.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 1982Date of Patent: September 20, 1983Assignee: S&C Electric CompanyInventors: Edmund S. Dizon, Joseph P. Moninski, Jr.
