Abstract: A method and system for applying vehicle settings to a vehicle is provided. The method and system include determining if a portable device is connected to the vehicle. The method and system also include identifying a first settings profile that is linked to the portable device upon determining that an auto-link functionality is enabled on the vehicle. The method and system further include determining if a user input is received to link a second settings profile to the portable device and identifying the second settings profile that is linked to the portable device. The method and system also include applying a settings profile to control a vehicle system during a current drive cycle of the vehicle, wherein the settings profile applied to control a vehicle system includes the first settings profile or the second settings profile.

The configuration management may include requesting, by a first electronic control unit comprising a processor, feature information associated with a second electronic control unit. The feature information may include data related to a set of features implemented by the second electronic control unit. The configuration management may also include loading, by the first electronic control unit, an internal control for a first feature of the set of features based on a determination that the first feature is not loaded on the first electronic control unit.

Each functional device can include one or more functional objects. The method and system include providing one or more interfaces for each functional object, wherein each interface is defined with a set of features, the set of features selected from a feature catalog defined in the framework. The method and system include implementing the interfaces for each function object of each function device in the vehicle network communication system to enable communication over the vehicle network communication system.
