  • Patent number: 4428553
Abstract: A vehicle seat having a seat base frame (10) mounted on cross rails (12) is provided with a height adjustment mechanism comprising a pair of generally U-shaped leaf springs (14) which constitute the sole support for the seat on the crossrails (12). The leaf springs each have a pair of oppositely inclined upstanding tongues (18) connected to the seat base frame through pin and slot connections (32, 34) and, adjacent their upper ends, each pair of tongues (18) is connected by a rod (37) which serves both to stiffen the tongues (18) and also to effect adjustment of their inclination so as to vary the height of the seat base (10) above the rails (12).

  • Patent number: 4159095
Abstract: A seat height adjustment mechanism comprises a seat base frame mounted on a supporting fixture by means of front and rear sets of levers to enable the vertical height of the front and rear ends of the seat base to be adjusted relative to the fixture. Angular adjustment of the front and rear levers is effected by means of respective gear sets at opposite sides of the seat. The gear set associated with the front end of the seat base can be operated directly by the seat occupant and the two gear sets are linked by a selectively operable clutch device so that the rear end gear set can be operated simultaneously with the front end gear set if the clutch is in the operative condition. In this way, the seat is raised or lowered bodily at both ends. When the clutch is inoperative, the rear end gear set is not operated and only the front end of the seat is then raised or lowered.

  • Patent number: 4131316
Abstract: An adjustable reclining mechanism for a vehicle seat is combined with a linkage which translates folding of the backrest into forward or rearward movement of the seat, the reclining mechanism including a rectilinearly displaceable toothed member co-operable with a pawl to hold the seat base and the backrest in selected positions of adjustment, of which the following is a specification.

  • Patent number: 4088378
Abstract: A seat slide comprises a guide channel and a slide part which is attached to the seat and slides within the channel. To afford free sliding movement considerable play is provided between the slide part and the guide channel but to avoid rattle particularly when the seat is not occupied, resiliently deformable plastics pads are located in the clearance gaps between the channel and the slide part to take up the play. These plastics pads not only take up the play but also facilitate sliding movement in that they can be made of a material having a low coefficient of friction.
