  • Publication number: 20200400563
Abstract: A system for the identification of micro-organisms includes an irradiation unit adapted to sequentially provide coherent electromagnetic radiation of one or more wavelengths along a common optical path. A holder is adapted to retain a substrate having a surface adapted for growth of a micro-organism colony. A beamsplitter is adapted to direct the coherent electromagnetic radiation from the common optical path towards the retained substrate. An imager is arranged opposite the beamsplitter from the retained substrate and is adapted to obtain images of backward-scattered light patterns from the micro-organism colony irradiated by the respective wavelengths of the directed coherent electromagnetic radiation. Some examples provide radiation of multiple wavelengths and include an imager arranged optically downstream of the retained substrate to obtain images of forward-scattered light patterns from the micro-organism colony irradiated by the wavelengths of radiation.

  • Publication number: 20200389588
Abstract: Image Signal Processing (ISP) optimization framework for computer vision applications is disclosed. The tuning of the ISP is performed automatically and presented as a nonlinear multi-objective optimization problem, followed by solving the problem using an evolutionary stochastic solver. An improved ISP of the embodiments of the invention includes at least features of search space reduction for reducing a number of ISP configurations, remapping the generated population to the reduced search space via mirroring, and global optimization function processing, which allow tuning all the blocks of the ISP at the same time instead of the prior art tuning of each ISP block separately. Also shown that an ISP tuned for image quality performs inferior compared with an ISP trained for a specific downstream image recognition task.

  • Publication number: 20200378614
Abstract: A removable stovetop cover, cut to fit the specific stove, that will cover the entire stovetop, except the burners. It will be sturdy enough to be left in place while cooking, and will contain all cooking splatters. It can then be removed in one piece or sections, to be cleaned in the sink or dishwasher. Once cleaned, it can be reinstalled on the stovetop, eliminating the need to clean the stovetop proper and protecting it's finish from damage. This removable stovetop protector is meant to last the lifetime of the stove.

  • Publication number: 20200309084
Abstract: Disclosed is a device which incorporates a process by which an absorptive material is used to absorb fluid, the weight of said fluid causes the device to move without any outside energy source. The fluid, by way of evaporation or by being absorbed into another absorptive material, substantially disappears, causing the device to return back to its starting position on its own, and repeat the process. The fluid, which is stocked in a holding area, remains stagnant, until the device in its starting position is made in contact with the fluid by use of a counterweight, and thereby absorbs the fluid, however, when the device is saturated, the greater volume of absorbent on one side causes the device to move to its activated position. In its activated position, the device is not exposed to the fluid and therefore remains until the fluid is evaporated or absorbed into another absorbent. In doing so, the device has converted the potential energy in an unsaturated absorbent into kinetic energy.

  • Patent number: 10769409
Abstract: A computer method for correlating depictions of colonies of microorganisms includes receiving an image of a substrate associated with a first time and showing a colony of microorganisms. A second image of the same substrate and associated with a second time shows a candidate colony of microorganisms. A region of the second image that shows the candidate colony of microorganisms is located. The first region of the first image is compared to the second region of the second image. Based on the comparison of the images, the candidate colony of microorganism is determined to be the same colony as the first colony of microorganisms. Systems for moving substrates having colonies of microorganisms and maintaining orientation of the substrates before and after movement are also described.

  • Publication number: 20200249155
Abstract: A system of spectroscopic devices deployed amongst the fluid infrastructure of hydrocarbon fluids are described herein. The devices provide early visibility into the characteristics of those fluids which inform and educate downstream parties of the potential value of the fluid, or the opportunity to reblend or redirect the fluid to optimize the formulization. By allowing downstream parties to determine the quality and quantity of refined products at an early stage, they are better able to determine the true value of the fluid. The data from the distributed network of spectroscopic analyzers provides valuation information that can be used to make more informed purchasing decisions or allow processors to create blends that optimize the efficiency of refining operations.
