Abstract: A manually operable four-way seat adjuster mechanism comprising a horizontally movable carriage assembly, and a seat assembly connected to said carriage by bell-cranks. The bell-cranks at each side of the carriage assembly are connected by links, at least one of which in turn is provided with notches, and a correspondingly notched latch lever retains the link in adjusted latched position. Torsion bars interconnect bell-cranks at opposite sides of the carriage, each comprising a rod extending through a closely fitted tube, the ends of which are fixed to the bell-cranks. The ends of the rods are flattened and fixed to opposite sides of the carriage. A strong balance spring assists the bell-cranks, and the geometry is such as to provide a substantially uniform lifting torque to the seat throughout its range of adjustment.

Abstract: An adjustable vehicle seat construction in which motor means is connected by a bracket to the seat slide, which also carries transmission mechanism for adjusting the position of the seat. The seat adjusting mechanism comprises interconnected levers at opposite sides interconnected by a torsion tube pivotally connected to side elements of the seat frame by elongated pins in driving connection therewith. In addition, mounting brackets are provided carrying carriage supports on which elongated carriage slides are longitudinally slidable. The mounting brackets at their forward ends include special abutment means engageable by the forward end of the carriage supports under abnormal stress such as may occur in collision.

Abstract: A hinge assembly for a reclining vehicle seat comprising essentially two plates pivoted together, one of the plates having an arcuate edge surface a part of which is provided with locking teeth and the remainder of which is smooth. A locking pawl is movably connected to the other plate and has teeth movable into locking engagement with the teeth on the arcuate portion.

Abstract: A seat adjusting mechanism including separate devices for effecting fore and aft adjustment and substantially vertical adjustment of the seat. These devices are interconnected by a spring in such a way that the spring simultaneously biases the seat supporting structure forwardly and upwardly.

Abstract: A manually adjustable vehicle seat comprises elongated seat supporting carriages each of which is mounted for rolling movement on a pair of balls located adjacent the ends of the carriage. The balls roll on short track members having end abutments and the track members include means for limiting longitudinal movement. A latch lever is provided having an aperture plate portion movable in latching position to receive one of a series of latching projections provided on the mounting base.

Abstract: An adjustable seat back support capable of permitting adjustment of the seat back from a substantially upright position to a reclining position, and in addition being freely movable from upright position to a forward displaced position facilitating access to the rear seat of a two-door motor vehicle.

Abstract: A programmed sequential operator for producing sequential or at least not identically simultaneous movement of two different members. The operator includes an actuator reversely movable between limiting positions, first and second operating members each independently reversely movable between limiting positions, and connections between the actuator and operating members to produce forward and reverse movements of said members in programmed relation to forward and reverse movement of the actuator.
