  • Patent number: 10914525
Abstract: A heat exchanger, for example a shell and tube flooded evaporator, has a refrigerant distributor that is positioned at an angle between the bottom of the shell and the sides of the shell, and includes an inlet that is welded to an inlet piping, where the inlet and inlet piping are in fluid communication with the refrigerant distributor, and are in a generally corresponding position orientation. Tubes of a tube bundles may extend proximate the bottom of the shell.

    Assignee: TRANE INTERNATIONAL INC.
Inventors: Steven Joseph Pitts, Harry Kenneth Ring, Steven Erwin Meloling
  • Patent number: 10782077
Abstract: A condenser equipped with a refrigerant outlet configured to receive and store liquid refrigerant during an off-cycle is described. The refrigerant outlet may include an outflow pipe surrounded by a weir. The weir may include a port, through which liquid refrigerant in the weir can be directed to, for example, moving parts of the chiller for lubrication. The outflow pipe may extend vertically relative to the bottom of the condenser. In some embodiments, a first opening of the outflow pipe may be positioned higher than the bottom of the condenser in the vertical direction, while the weir may be positioned lower than the bottom of the condenser. Liquid refrigerant in the condenser can flow to and stay in the weir in an off-cycle. During a subsequent start-up, the liquid refrigerant in the weir can be directly quickly to moving parts of the chiller.

  • Publication number: 20100073398
Abstract: A visual summarization of a web page is generated. This generally involves identifying at least one of, an image that is exemplary of the page content, text that is exemplary of the page content, and a logo associated with the web page. The exemplary image and logo, if identified, are scaled to prescribed sizes. The exemplary image can act as a background image for the summarization, or a scaled version of the at least a portion of the web page can act as the background image. In the latter, if an exemplary image was identified, it is overlaid onto the background image at a prescribed location. In either case, if a logo was identified, it is also overlaid onto the background image at a prescribed location. If exemplary text was identified, a text area in the background image is identified and at least some of the exemplary text is inserted.

  • Patent number: 6376688
Abstract: The present invention provides polyunsaturated fatty acid compounds having antimalarial and/or neutrophil stimulatory activity. The polyunsaturated fatty acids contain 18-25 carbons and 1-6 double bonds and are characterized in that they have one or two substitutions selected from the group consisting of &bgr; oxa, &ggr; oxa, &bgr; thia and &ggr; thia. It is also preferred that the polyunsaturated fatty acid compound includes a further substitution selected from the group consisting of hydroxy, hydroperoxy, peroxy, carboxymethyl substitutions or attached to an amino acid.

  • Patent number: 6262119
Abstract: Method of treating or ameliorating symptoms of T-cell mediated disease wherein a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a polyunsaturated fatty acid and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier is administered to the patient. The polyunsaturated fatty acid contains 18-25 carbon atoms, 1-6 double bonds and has 1 or 2 substitutions selected from &bgr; oxa, &ggr; oxa, &bgr; thia and &ggr; thia, based on the fatty acid acyl carbon atom, or the polyunsaturated fatty acid contains 16-26 carbon atoms, 3-double bonds and is covalently coupled at the carboxylic acid group to an amino acid.
