Abstract: An undergarment with an improved elastic waistband comprises a fabric garment body defining a pair of shorts with a circular waist portion, and a waistband which includes an annular band of longitudinally elastic tape. The waistband has a lower edge contiguous to the circular waist portion and a free upper edge, and a plurality of laterally oriented upward V-shaped notches therein providing openings in the upper edge. The undergarment can further include a fabric covering coextensive with elastic tape which is elastically stitched to the elastic tape.
