  • Publication number: 20190029091
Abstract: A system of networked lighting devices includes a group of lighting device fixture controllers connected in a communication chain. The communication chain provides for transfer of data packets between the lighting device fixture controllers and a central controller. Each fixture controller includes a first power input that receives power from a primary power source, and a priority switch that is configured to switch the fixture controller from the primary power source to a source of DC power upon detecting failure of the primary power source. The source of DC power is sufficient to power the fixture controller and enable the fixture controller to continue to pass a stream of data to other controllers in the communication chain, but it is not sufficient to power the fixture controller's associated lighting device.

  • Patent number: 10143053
Abstract: A lighting device control system includes a lighting device that includes a communication interface, an optical radiation source, and a fixture controller. The system also may include a gateway controller that is in communication with the lighting device and one or more other lighting devices. The fixture controller or gateway controller identifies that a portable electronic device is in a proximate communication range. The fixture or gateway controller also receives a light operation request from the portable electronic device. The light operation request includes one or more settings for one or more optical characteristics of light that the optical radiation source may emit. The fixture controller determines whether the portable electronic device is authorized to implement the request. In response to determining that the device is authorized, the fixture controller will cause the optical radiation source to emit light that exhibits the optical characteristic(s).

  • Patent number: 10136501
Abstract: A lighting control system includes a device controller containing control circuitry that is configured to control drive currents delivered to a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) of a lighting device. The control circuitry generates commands to compensate for failed LEDs in the plurality of LEDs by controlling drive currents delivered to a group of LEDs so that the illuminance level of light detected by an illuminance sensor will not substantially change because of the failed LED, if the voltage across the group of LEDs is less than the threshold amount. The control circuitry also controls the plurality of LEDs in response to data received from a sensor configured to measure a characteristic value of light received from the lighting device, by controlling drive currents delivered to the LEDs if the detected characteristic value of light from the lighting device has moved above or below a threshold.

  • Patent number: 10117303
Abstract: A system controls lighting devices at one or more light-enabled facilities, each of which includes gateway controller at each facility. A facility's gateway controller pairs with a portable electronic device when the portable electronic device arrives at the facility. The gateway controller portable electronic device receives light operation requests from the portable electronic device upon arrival, or from the remote server before arrival. Each light operation request adjusts various hardware settings of the lighting devices to alter the optical characteristics of emitted light at various times. The system also may use geolocation data to identify and schedule lighting services at various light-enabled facilities in a geographic area.

  • Patent number: 10051709
Abstract: A lighting system includes a group of light emitting diode (LED) illumination devices, each of which includes a device driver. One or more sensors are configured to measure a characteristic of light received from the devices in an area of an environment that is illuminated by the devices. A controller detects when a value of the measured light characteristic received by a sensor deviates from a desired value. When this happens, the controller will cause the device drivers for each of the LED illumination devices to control LEDs in each illumination device so that the desired color temperature of light will be received at the location of the sensor while maintaining a substantially constant illuminance level at the location.
