  • Patent number: 7886570
Abstract: A hand tool comprising first and second jaw members and first and second handle members, the first handle and both jaw members being cooperatively connected by a force multiplying linkage system. A force applied to the first handle drives the linkage system to close the jaws to crimp or cut a work piece. In one embodiment of the invention, a link in the linkage system has a first end movable between first and second positions relative to its first end pivot pin wherein the first and second jaw members close a first distance when the link first end is in the first position and close a second distance when the link first end is in the second position. Other embodiments comprise other step-wise changes in distance between force-bearing pivot locations in the linkage system to close the jaws progressive distances with successive closures of the first and second handles.

  • Patent number: 6425183
Abstract: A ring cutting tool for cutting a ring which encircles tubing, the ring cutting tool having a first member with a jaw at one end and a handle at the other end, a second member having a jaw at one end thereof, and a handle at the other end thereof, the first and second jaws being in a substantially abutting relationship when in a closed position, the jaws providing jaw cutting surfaces which define an angle of between 20° and 35°. The ring cutting tool permits an easy lateral cutting and breaking apart of a compression ring.

  • Publication number: 20020017158
Abstract: A variable drive mechanism for bicycle comprising a pair of input torque crank arms supported for independent rotation about a first axis and operatively connected to an output torque member rotating about a second axis. The rotary angular location of the two axes is adjustable and lockable in order to provide smoother pedaling motion or to eliminate the top dead center as is preferred with mountain bikes. With this drive mechanism, a constant speed of the output member will provide the input crank arm with a single variation of speed per revolution.

  • Patent number: 6174027
Abstract: The present device is an adjustable seat assembly for bicycles and the like. The adjustable seat assembly has a continuous manually operated tilt adjustment which allows the rider to adjust the inclination of the seat while riding the cycle. The seat assembly also includes an independent fore and aft adjustment for the seat, allowing the rider dual control of the seat position. Ease of operation is obtained through a highly accessible handwheel and control lever.

  • Patent number: 6128943
Abstract: The present invention is an adjustment mechanism for both hand and production tools of any capacity. An eccentric pin mechanism provides the pivot between two handles or other load transferring members. The rotation of the pin moves the two members closer or farther apart, indirectly controlling the final position of the blades or jaws. This adjustment can be used to compensate for wear or to provide adjustment for a specific use. The eccentric pin is locked into position by means of a pressure pin mechanism. For light duty tools, this pressure pin mechanism would consist of a spring loaded pin which resists rotation of the eccentric pin during normal operation of the tool. The spring loaded pin would allow rotation of the eccentric pin when a tool is used to rotate it. For heavy duty applications, the pressure pin mechanism would consist of a solid set screw.

  • Patent number: 5067370
Abstract: A drive system for driving any driven device, such as the rear wheel of a bicycle or the like, comprising a pair of oppositely-directed input torque crank arms supported for independent rotation about a first axis, an output torque member supported for rotation about a second axis parallel to and spaced from the first axis, and torque transferring linkages connecting both crank arms to the output torque member. The angular orientation of the plane containing the two axes adjustable and the amount of eccentricity may be fixed or adjustable. The arrangement is such that for a constant speed of the output member, each input crank arm will undergo a single speed variation per revolution. Typically, from its top dead center position to its bottom dead center position, the angular velocity of each crank arm decreases and then increases in the second half-turn.
