  • Patent number: 7877830
Abstract: A method and apparatus for more accurately fastening a raised heel to a shoe outsole includes a shoe support column having an impact head at an upper end thereof. The impact head is contoured to substantially conform to the inner heel portion of the shoe upper. The impact head includes a plurality of bores each having a piston-operated driver therein that propels a nail upwardly through the shoe insole and into the raised heel. Proximal the bore outlets is an alignment button that is inserted into a channel formed through the shoe insole and outsole. An alignment pin is positioned within both an alignment aperture formed on the shoe heel and a centrally disposed cavity on the button. When the alignment aperture, button and channel are axially aligned, the raised heel is properly positioned on the shoe outsole ensuring accurate penetration of the nails.

  • Patent number: 7810447
Abstract: A strip of dental articulating paper is held pincer-like between two biased lateral edges of an outer housing. A grip head overlying a liner protects one lateral edge of the dental articulating paper, with a linear tracing of petroleum jelly formed on the liner adjacent exposed surfaces on both sides of the dental articulating paper. During storage, the grip head is received by and between the two biased lateral edges of the housing. Immediately prior to use, the dental professional slowly removes the grip head from the housing, with the biased lateral edges pressing against the sides of the withdrawing articulating paper, spreading an even, thin film of petroleum jelly over the surfaces thereof.

  • Patent number: 5905429
Abstract: An audio label comprising a circuit board substrate with a sound-generating microchip and a photovoltaic cell both attached to the substrate such that the microchip is electrically connected to the photovoltaic cell so that power is provided to the sound-generating microchip. A sound reproduction unit is also attached to the substrate and is connected to the sound-generating microchip communicates signals to the sound reproduction unit which are then converted by the sound reproduction unit to audible sounds. A system for audio label operation is also disclosed. The system includes a separate transmitter which transmits electromagnetic waves, such as light, infrared or radio waves to one or more audio labels which have electromagnetic wave receiving circuit elements, such as phototransistors disposed thereon. The transmitter thus sends wave signals to each label each of which then converts the wave signals to electric signals which each sound reproduction unit then converts to audible sounds.

  • Patent number: 4511925
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a high intensity, ultraviolet, electronic video image is provided. The apparatus includes an electronic video imaging tube for printing on vesicular microfilm, diazo microfilm, and diazo paper and the like. The tube is constructed of a housing having an interior with an electron gun emitting a scanning electron beam across a path which intersects the interior of the housing. A phosphor target of ultraviolet phosphor is disposed within the housing interior and is positioned upon the path for reflecting therefrom a high intensity, ultraviolet video image. The phosphor target is preferably convex, and concentric with a curved surface portion of the housing. The curved surface portion of the housing reflects the high intensity, ultraviolet video image from the interior of the housing to the exterior portion thereof. A reduction lens assembly can be provided for diverging or converging the image as desired.

  • Patent number: 4237558
Abstract: A removable cooling band structure attaches directly to a hatband portion of a desired hat to be cooled. The cooling band structure has a liquid retaining pad for abutting at least a portion of the forehead of the wearer. Associated with the band structure and pad is a fluid supply vessel which is cooperatively connected to the cooling band structure and transmits fluid such as water to the band structure through a wick by capillary action.

  • Patent number: 4130902
Abstract: An improved cooling hatband is comprised of a structural support band which is affixable to the desired headpiece. An absorbent flexible liquid retaining band is attachable to the support band with a net fastener. The absorbent band is provided with a matrix of indented slots through which air can pass to optimize evaporation. The structural band is provided with a corresponding intermeshing matrix of openings which register with the intermeshing openings of the absorbent band when the absorbent band is connected to the structural band by means of the net fastener, allowing air to freely circulate through the assembled hatband.
