Abstract: A stabilizing in-flight parachute system for an airplane comprising a retractable canopy built into a top portion of a fuselage of the airplane. A parachute is under the canopy, while a framework is attached to the parachute. A device is for winding and unwinding the parachute on the framework. A facility is for retracting the canopy and exposing the parachute. A mechanism is for accelerating deployment of the parachute out from the fuselage of the airplane, when the canopy is retracted.

Abstract: A valve adapted for insertion in a pressurized fluid flow line for blocking and sealing the flow of fluid through the line without disconnecting the line and to maintain the pressure in the upstream end of the line. The valve includes two body portions which may be clamped on the fluid flow line to form a valve body in which is adjustably mounted an elongated tubular outer shaft, and an elongated cylindrical inner shaft that is rotatably mounted through the tubular outer shaft and carries an annular hole cutter and a tubular seal. The inner shaft is rotatable for driving the annular hole cutter through the line and the outer shaft is rotatable for advancing the inner shaft and annular hole cutter and for positioning the tubular seal in the hole cut through the line to block and seal flow through the downstream portion of the line.

Abstract: A sink strainer having a hollow strainer body with an open upper end with an outlet member at the lower end thereof on which is formed an annular valve seat. A basket strainer is operatively mounted in the strainer body and it is movable between an open and closed position. The basket strainer includes a valve stem which is movable relative to the basket strainer and which carries a valve provided with a detachable peripheral elastomeric seal for seating engagement on the valve seat on the outlet member.
