Abstract: A paperboard, sidewall, and disposable cup made from about 70 wt % to about 100 wt % of recycled fiber. The paperboard can include about 70 wt % to about 100 wt % of recycled fiber, based on the total weight of the fiber. The paperboard can have a board thickness of about 14 mil to about 20 mil, an apparent density of less than about 11.5 lbs/3,000 ft2/mil, a CD Taber Stiffness of about 50 g*cm or more, and a MD/CD Taber Stiffness ratio of 1.0 to 3.0, and can be used to make recycled cups having sufficient strength and rigidity properties that rival cups made from virgin fibers.

Abstract: Methods for making paperboard blanks and paperboard products therefrom are provided. In one aspect, a method for making a paperboard blank can include burning a paperboard substrate to form at least one aperture therethrough. The method can also include securing a film onto a first side of the paperboard substrate to produce a paperboard blank.

Abstract: The present invention provides a container suitable for providing insulation wherein the container has an inner shrink film liner. The sidewalls of the container, which can be made from paperboard or other suitable material, are vented to allow ambient air to flow through the sidewall of the container during activation of the shrink film. Upon activation the container provides excellent insulation. Methods of making the container are also provided.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide an adapter suitable for use with cups and lids. In some embodiments, the adapter is designed so that a single lid with a predetermined diameter fits, by way of the adapter, with paper cups of different diameters. In some embodiments, an adapter including an inner diameter that corresponds to the upper diameter of the paper cup cooperates with the upper portion of the cup. The adapter also includes an outer diameter that corresponds to the predetermined diameter of the lid to ensure a secure fit between that particular sized cup and the plastic lid having a predetermined diameter.

Abstract: A cup dispenser for dispensing cups of differing size with variable extraction force includes: (a) a housing configured to receive a stack of disposable cups, the housing defining a housing opening as well as support means for receiving a dispensing ring member; (b) means for defining a dispensing aperture at the housing opening comprising at least one dispensing ring mounted on the housing support means therefor, the means for defining the dispensing aperture being generally configured to releasably retain the stack of disposable cups within said housing and require a predetermined extraction force to extract a cup from the stack in the housing, the required predetermined extraction force being variable depending upon the brim diameter of the cup. The dispenser may include 2 interchangeable rings, each of which is adapted for a specific size cup, or a single ring which requires an extraction force that varies with cup size.

Abstract: Novel multi-layer paper and tissue products are provided, which possess strength, softness and absorbency. The products comprise either at least two foam deposited paper layers, wherein the foams have different air contents therein, or foam and water deposited layers. The layers can be deposited at about identical feed pressures from a single headbox while still possessing differing tensile strength ratios. Novel processes for forming such products are also provided.
