Patent number: 11609704Abstract: Systems and methods for enhancing the representation of outliers in a distribution of telemetry data of a monitored system are provided. According to one embodiment, telemetry data of the monitored system may be continuously collected. Frequency values representing a frequency of occurrence of corresponding telemetry data of the collected telemetry data may be generated by aggregating the collected telemetry data. As the vast majority of telemetry data is expected to represent a normal operating state of the system and relatively few, if any, of the telemetry data (e.g., outliers) will be indicative of one or more events of significance, the resulting distribution of the frequency values is highly skewed. In order to facilitate visualization of the distribution that accentuates the outliers, display characteristics may be calculated for the frequency values by applying a visualization model based on a weighted combination of multiple data transformations to each of the frequency values.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2020Date of Patent: March 21, 2023Assignee: NetApp, Inc.Inventors: Tyler W. Cady, Joseph R. Thomas, III

Patent number: 6846313Abstract: A bioabsorbable rivet and pin fastener is formed as an elongated unit that may be used for anchoring, or for attachment of a fixation plate. The rivet has a head mechanically connected to two or more legs that extend generally distally from the head and may flex outwardly from a central rivet axis. The pin is integral with the rivet and oriented along the central axis by a connection such as a web or a plurality of braces, forming an integral, aligned, one-piece assembly that may, for example, be molded as a single piece. The connection breaks under force as the pin is driven into the rivet, so that the pin contacts internal surfaces of the legs and pushes the legs outward into frictional engagement with the surrounding bone. The one-piece assembly may be formed in a gated mold having a central pin with a relief passage that defines the braces between upper and lower portions of the rivet.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2000Date of Patent: January 25, 2005Assignee: Codman & Shurtleff, Inc.Inventors: Laurel L. Rogers, Mariann Sayer, David W. Overaker, Shawn T. Huxel, Kevin Cooper, Dennis D. Jamiolkowski, Joseph R. Thomas

Patent number: 6630086Abstract: An apparatus and a method are disclosed for manufacturing an integral one piece catheter having a tube and a hub. The method comprises feeding molten material into a mold having a mold cavity. A fluid such as a gas is injected into an inlet of the mold. This causes the cavity to eject the molten central region of the polymer through an exit channel. In one embodiment, a gas is injected into the hub portion of the cavity. In another embodiment, a gas is injected into the catheter portion of the mold. The invention also involves forming a first portion of an intravascular device using a first material in a first mold. Thereafter the first portion of the intravascular device is inserted into a second mold to form a second portion using a second material. Gas is then introduced to form a hollow channel in the second portion.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 1999Date of Patent: October 7, 2003Assignee: Ethicon, Inc.Inventors: David Goral, Adel Kafrawy, William F. Polley, Joseph R. Thomas

Patent number: 5964744Abstract: In accordance with the invention, there are provided medical devices with incorporated shape memory systems that allow a polymeric medical device to be inserted in a first conformation or configuration and revert to a second conformation or configuration. The invention is useful in allowing the easy insertion or implantation of a device followed by expansion of the device in order to be retained without expulsion from a body cavity, for example. In another aspect of the invention there is provided a medical device, such as a ureteral stent, that includes comprising an elongated member having a proximal end portion and a distal end portion joined by a body portion. The elongated member has an initial outer diameter. A retention construction serves for retaining the member within a bodily cavity. The member is formulated of a physiologically acceptable polymer capable of hydrating and expanding from the initial member outer diameter to form a final member outer diameter.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1994Date of Patent: October 12, 1999Assignee: Menlo Care, Inc.Inventors: Daniel J.
