  • Publication number: 20090130512
Abstract: The present invention relates to fuel cell assembly having a plurality of microcells, and to methods of assembling fuel cell assemblies from microcells. A plurality of microcells is circumferentially spaced around a central member. Each microcell comprises an inner current collector having one or more microchannels formed therein, a proton exchange membrane surrounding said inner current collector, and an outer current collector disposed on the outside of said proton exchange membrane. A first electrical connector disposed at a first end of the fuel cell assembly electrically connects to the inner current collectors of said microcells. A second electrical connector disposed at a second end of the fuel cell assembly electrically connects to the outer current collectors of the microcells. In one embodiment, inner and outer seals are disposed in spaced relation to one another adjacent the first end of said fuel cell assembly.

  • Publication number: 20090123247
Abstract: A system and technique wherein an ultra high-pressure (UHP) stream of water passing through a calibrated orifice achieves high water velocity. The orifice would be made from an extremely hard material such as sapphire or diamond. This high velocity stream impacts on a driving fluid turbine impeller attached to a shaft forming an opposed high-speed tool, which results in very high rotational speed with very high available power to do work. Off/On Control of the system would be accomplished through an integrated ultra high-pressure valve system.

  • Patent number: 7457299
Abstract: A wireless network (100) includes a number of definable radio systems (102) in communication with one another via a wideband backbone (108). Each of the systems (102) includes a first software programmable transceiver (200) for extra-network communication using a narrowband channel defined by a radio frequency capability (106). Each of the radios (102) further includes a second transceiver for intra-network communication using wideband backbone (108). Methods for operating the network (100) enable the radios (102) to engage in communication over narrowband channels to carry a signal between multiple radios (102) and an extra-network location, and for communicating the signal as distinct bitstreams between the radios (102) and another of the radios (102) using the wideband backbone (108).
