Abstract: A mounting accessory is used for secure connection of a rail or other component to a hollow post positioned over an internal upright by a mounting device having an axial passage through which the upright extends. The accessory features interconnected walls facing into an open space left therebetween, the open space being sized to accommodate passage of the upright support therethrough with the mounting accessory oriented to situate the walls on different sides of the upright support. Each wall has an opening therein sized to accommodate a respective portion of the periphery of the mounting device. With a portion of the mounting device periphery received in the opening of each wall, the wall resides at or adjacent the periphery of the device to lie internally adjacent a respective wall of the post to provide extra material for engagement by a screw fastener driven through the post wall.

One lower mounting device slides along the pipe prior to fastening thereto to allow change or adjustment of a height at which the hollow post is to be supported on a base of the device. Another mounting device can be used with or without a base-defining attachment to facilitate selective use of the device to either support the bottom end of the post on the optional base or instead just engage the post's interior surface at any point along the post for positioning thereof about the pipe. Another mounting device is directly fastenable to the pipe through a wall projecting from the device's body or alternatively cooperable with a second body mountable on the pipe for engagement with this second body in different positions relative to the pipe.

Abstract: A system for mounting a hollow post about a pipe features upper and lower mounting devices vertically spaced along the pipe. The lower mounting device is slidable along the pipe to define a height at which the hollow post sits atop a base of the lower mounting device. The lower mounting device is mountable on the pipe to allow control over the post height with minimal ground surface preparation. The upper mounting device features two members that are engagable in a number of different relative positions to allow relative positioning of the pipe and post, to each of which a respective one of the two members is engaged. In one embodiment, engagement of the members to separate ones of the post and pipe allows adjustment of the post's position relative to the pipe after installation without removal of the post for access to the upper mounting device.
