  • Patent number: 5837004
Abstract: A device to reduce pain, relax muscle spasm, decrease swelling, and increase circulation to the bones, joints, and muscles of the face of a patient having temporomandibular joint dysfunction, the device having a thin, hexagonal configuration with an essentially uniform cross-section, and a flexible outer envelope having a perimeter limited to covering an area on one side of a patient's face to minimally include the area over the rear portion of the patient's mandible, the zygomatic arch, the front portion of the temporal bone, the great wing of the sphenoid bone, the lower front portion of the parietal bone, the outer envelope also having hook material on both sides of the upper panel placed away from the patient's face so that it can also be used inside-out against the opposite side of the patient's face and the lower rear portion of the frontal bone.

  • Patent number: 5826841
Abstract: A prevention and therapeutic support system for body parts susceptible to repetitive strain injury comprising an assembly having a centrally located gel-pack sandwiched between, upper and lower foam layers each having downwardly depending perimeter edges which when placed adjacent to one another form a cavity into which the gel-pack can be placed, the foam layers to to completely encompassing the gel-pack during use, the gel-pack substantially filling the cavity, the gel-pack and foam layers being placed into an outer covering into which maintains the foam in its optimal position around the gel-pack during use, the outer envelope has an opening through which the foam layer and gel-pack can be moved for independent heating and cooling of the gel-pack, the gel-pack being capable of being both heated and chilled, the viscous non-hardening gel material in the gel-pack being able to maintain hot and cold temperatures for extended periods of time.

  • Patent number: 5785634
Abstract: An exercise device for use under water to exercise muscles associated with a person's upper extremities, the device comprising a wheel support member, a wheel, a plurality of paddles, and a handle, the wheel support member being anchored to the side or bottom of a swimming pool or other body of water. The wheel is movably attached to the wheel support member so that the wheel can revolve around its central axis during use. Each paddle is removably attached to one of the sides of the wheel, or in the alternative to its perimeter, with means that allow the orientation of each paddle to be individually changed into a variety of fixed positions between a first position of maximum water resistance and a second position that is rotated ninety degrees from the first position and creates a position of minimum water resistance.

  • Patent number: 5690588
Abstract: An underwater apparatus for exercising muscles associated with a person's legs and feet which has an adjustable seat and a U-shaped configuration which allows it to be reoriented within a body of water for use in alternatively exercising muscles associated with a person's shoulders and upper extremities. Paddles are removably attached to a pair of spaced-apart wheels mounted laterally on one end of the U-shaped frame, while a vertically adjustable seat is connected to the other end of the U-shaped frame. A weight anchors the frame securely into a fixed position against the bottom of the body of water in which the apparatus is used. Paddles are each attached to the perimeter of one or both of the wheels by a casing so that each paddle extends radially beyond the perimeter of the wheel to which it is attached.
