  • Patent number: 4065470
Abstract: A process for producing maleic anhydride from a hydrocarbon mixture containing C.sub.5 monoolefinic hydrocarbons, C.sub.5 diolefinic hydrocarbons, (cyclic and acylic) C.sub.5 paraffins, C.sub.6 paraffins and benzene which involves separating the C.sub.5 cyclic diolefinic hydrocarbons from the mixture and then reacting the resulting mixture with molecular oxygen in vapor phase in the presence of an oxidation catalyst at elevated temperatures.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 13, 1976
Date of Patent: December 27, 1977
Assignee: Gulf Research & Development Company
Inventors: John D. Bacha, Joseph S. Matthews, Charles M. Selwitz
  • Patent number: 4032547
Abstract: A novel and efficient oxidation process for preparing quinone alkides from the corresponding tri-alkyl or phenyl hindered phenols, utilizing ferricyanide as the secondary oxidant in combination with persulfate as the primary oxidant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 23, 1976
Date of Patent: June 28, 1977
Assignee: Gulf Research & Development Company
Inventors: John D. Bacha, Joseph S. Matthews
  • Patent number: 3932557
Abstract: A hydrophilic, epoxy containing polymer. The polymer is made by the free radical polymerization of a substituted epoxy monomer containing terminal unsaturation and at least one 1,2-epoxy group with an olefin monomer such as acrylonitrile to form a polymer having free epoxy groups which are available for reaction with other substances. Enzymes are immobilized by reaction with the polymer.
