Publication number: 20240084945Abstract: A pipe junction includes a corrugated pipe including a pipe wall having an inner pipe wall and an outer pipe wall, the outer pipe wall having a plurality of peaks and a plurality of valleys disposed between the plurality of peaks, and an opening through the pipe wall. The corrugated pipe junction includes a hub and sleeve assembly received within the opening of the pipe wall, the hub and sleeve assembly including a hub received within the sleeve. When the hub and sleeve assembly is received within the opening of the pipe wall, a compressive seal is formed between the hub and sleeve assembly and the inner pipe wall such that the hub and sleeve assembly is sealingly engaged with the inner pipe wall around an entire circumference of the hub and sleeve assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 11, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Daniel Krug Skinner, Jimmy Gamble, Daniel Joseph Gunckel

Patent number: 11836125Abstract: Computer systems and associated methods are disclosed to implement a database dependency monitoring system (DDMS) that periodically collects activity data from an inventory of databases and generates dependency graphs indicating data dependencies among the databases. In embodiments, the collection of the activity data may be implemented as three sets of jobs that are run periodically. In the first job set, the databases are checked to see if they can be connected to. In the second job set, queries are run in each of the available databases to generate output files containing their activity data. In a third job set, the output files are transformed and loaded into a metadata store, which can be used to generate the dependency graph based on the collected activity data. Advantageously, the disclosed system may be used to adaptively monitor a changing inventory of many databases, while causing little or no performance impact on the databases.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2019Date of Patent: December 5, 2023Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Joseph Skinner, Alex Anto Chriayath, Shobhit Goyal, Vinay Boinepally

Patent number: 9936877Abstract: A wearable master electronic device (Amulet) has a processor with memory, the processor coupled to a body-area network (BAN) radio and uplink radio. The device has firmware for BAN communications with wearable nodes to receive data, and in an embodiment, send configuration data. The device has firmware for using the uplink radio to download apps and configurations, and upload data to a server. An embodiment has accelerometers in Amulet and wearable node, and firmware for using accelerometer readings to determine if node and Amulet are worn by the same subject. Other embodiments use pulse sensors or microphones in the Amulet and node to both identify a subject and verify the Amulet and node are worn by the same subject. Another embodiment uses a bioimpedance sensor to identify the subject. The wearable node may be an insulin pump, chemotherapy pump, TENS unit, cardiac monitor, or other device.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2017Date of Patent: April 10, 2018Assignee: THE TRUSTEES OF DARTMOUTH COLLEGEInventors: David Kotz, Ryan Halter, Cory Cornelius, Jacob Sorber, Minho Shin, Ronald Peterson, Shrirang Mare, Aarathi Prasad, Joseph Skinner, Andres David Molina-Markham

Publication number: 20090249819Abstract: An ice cube catcher is disclosed for positioning on a door of a refrigerator to catch ice cubes dispensed from an in-door dispenser. The catcher may include a body having a sloped portion and a pair of sidewalls. The sloped portion may include a top and a bottom edge and a pair of ends. The sidewalls may be positioned at each end of the sloped portion and include a flange portion. These flange portions may have a fastener that may operable to secure the body to a refrigerator door. Finally, a water retention portion such as ridge or damn or groove be provided proximate the bottom edge of the sloped portion to retain water from melting ice within the body of the catcher.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 8, 2008Publication date: October 8, 2009Inventor: Charles Joseph Skinner

Patent number: 7364408Abstract: The invention provides a compressor with a shut off valve disposed between the crank case and the suction cavity. The valve is moveable between an open and closed position in response to the pressure in the discharge cavity of the compressor. The valve is an on/off valve and is operable rapidly depressurize the interior of the crank case when the compressor transitions from a minimum stroke. The valve can define first and second fluid pathways. The first fluid pathway can be larger than the second fluid pathway and be selectively opened and closed. The second fluid pathway can be permanently open and act as a bleed between the crank case and the suction cavity.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2004Date of Patent: April 29, 2008Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Timothy Joseph Skinner, Joseph M. Bona

Patent number: 7163474Abstract: A lightweight backstop, equipment set, method of defining a playing field and method of playing a baseball related game is provided. The invention integrates a ball stopping backstop, attached strike zone, foul line ropes and base hit markers with methods and means for defining and marking a playing field scaled to the size and number of players. A separate strike zone is attached to the backstop by means allowing the players to quickly change the vertical position of the strike zone and acoustical responses generated by balls hitting the strike zone. Players may also adjust the sound generated by balls missing the strike zone, but striking the backstop net. One embodiment of the disclosed game eliminates base running and ball throwing near batters after the ball has been struck. The entire equipment set is light weight, easy to move, and simple to assemble.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2005Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Inventors: Brady Joseph Skinner, Mathew Scott Colby

Patent number: 4035276Abstract: A method for forming coplanar thin films, particularly conductor-insulator patterns, on a substrate. A pattern which includes a first thin film and an expendable material deposited thereon is formed on the substrate. The expendable material is selected so that it can be selectively removed by an etchant which does not attack the first thin film or an insulator which is to be deposited. The second thin film is deposited by RF sputtering at a bias which is sufficiently high to cause substantial reemission of the second film. This results in the covering of the exposed substrate surfaces and the upper surface of the material with the second film but leaving the side surfaces of the material exposed. The expendable material is then chemically etched so as to lift-off both the material and the second film deposited thereon, thereby leaving a coplanar pattern of first and second thin films.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1976Date of Patent: July 12, 1977Assignee: IBM CorporationInventors: Janos Havas, John S.
