    Abstract: A retention system for a helmet includes a horizontal chin strap and a vertical chin strap, wherein the vertical chin strap is secured to the horizontal chin strap at two points of intersection. The horizontal chin strap may include a first horizontal chin strap portion, a second horizontal chin strap portion, a first fastener for reversibly coupling the first chin strap and the second chin strap, and at least one mounting strap for affixing the mounting strap to a helmet. The vertical chin strap may include a second fastener for reversibly coupling a first end of the vertical chin strap to a body of the vertical chin strap, a loop through which the vertical chin strap passes through, and at least one forward strap for affixing the forward strap to a helmet.

    Abstract: A flameproof, heat resistant, lightweight, one-piece escape suit which includes attached integral mitts or gloves, covered footing, and a hood. The fire and heat resistant one piece suit is designed to be worn over a commercial smoke hood, is formed from a metalized fabric, and meets the requirements of ASTM standard D6413. The suit is designed to be easily slipped onto a wearer's body over typical street clothing, and allows a wearer to wear his or her accustomed footwear for improved safety and comfort. The durable fabric provides protection to a wearer when crawling low to the ground on his or her knees and elbows as is often recommended as a preferred escape posture. The fire and heat resistant one piece suit may be provided in multiple sizes to fit adults and children.

The adjustable headband and the crown pad each have a plurality of screw less connectors for directly securing the adjustable headband and the crown pad to the suspension band without screws. A nape pad subassembly is adjustably coupled to the shell via rear fasteners. A chin strap subassembly is adjustably coupled between the front fasteners and the nape pad subassembly by a multi-connection point coupling.
