Publication number: 20180052824Abstract: Examples of the disclosure provide a system and method for task completion using a digital assistant. Natural language data input is received and user intent associated with the natural language data input is identified. A structured query is generated for the natural language data input based on the identified user intent. A response to the structured query is received from a search engine and a determination is made as to whether the response includes one or more results. A result is selected for task completion based at least in part on user context, in response to a determination that the response includes one or more results.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 18, 2016Publication date: February 22, 2018Inventors: Reza Ferrydiansyah, Diego Carlomagno, Joseph Spencer King, Farhaz Karmali, Chidambaram Muthu, RaghuRam Nadiminti, Talon Edward Ireland, Alexis Hernandez, Travis Robert Wilson

Publication number: 20170286133Abstract: In embodiments of one step task completion, a computing system includes memory to maintain metadata associated with information that corresponds to a user, where the information is then determinable with a contextual search based on the metadata. The information corresponding to a user can be determined and tagged with the metadata, such as information associated with a user account and/or activity of the user. The computing system includes a personal assistant application that is implemented to receive a request as a one step directive to locate the information and perform an action designated for the information. The personal assistant application can then locate the information based on the metadata, and perform the action designated for the information.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2016Publication date: October 5, 2017Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Amy Harilal Rambhia, Robert J. Publication number: 20170289766Abstract: Techniques for digital assistant experience based on presence sensing are described herein. In implementations, a system is able to detect user presence and distance from a reference point, and tailor a digital assistant experience based on distance. The distance, for example, represents a distance from a client device that outputs various elements of a digital assistant experience, such as visual and audio elements. Various other contextual factors may additionally or alternatively be considered in adapting a digital assistant experience.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2016Publication date: October 5, 2017Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: James William Scott, Tobias Alexander Grosse-Puppendahl, Alice Jane Bernheim Brush, Joseph Spencer King, Diego HernĂ¡n Carlomagno, Konstantinos Aisopos, Matthias Baer

Publication number: 20160294766Abstract: Embodiments provide integrated reply functionality within the context of a contact card or panel. Contact information is provided for display in the contact card (e.g., a portion of a user interface of a computing device). The contact information is associated with a contact. The contact information identifies one or more transport modes for communication with the contact. In some embodiments, the computing device receives a request from a user to communicate with the contact via at least one selected transport mode. Based on the received request, the computing device provides an input field within the contact card. In other embodiments, the transport mode is automatically selected and the input field is displayed. Data from the user is received into the input field for communication to the contact. The computing device sends the data received into the input field to the contact via the selected transport mode.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 15, 2016Publication date: October 6, 2016Inventors: Gregory Alan Howard, Joseph Spencer King, Yili Aiwazian, Ian Hunter Todd, Naud Frijlink, Shawna Julie Davis, Christer Garbis

Patent number: 9420432Abstract: In embodiments of mobile devices control, a mobile device includes a communication interface for control communication with associated devices of the mobile device, and the associated devices correspond to members of a private interaction hub. A device control service is implemented to determine that the mobile device is moving in a vehicle based on motion data, and can generate a device quiet control to restrict at least audible outputs from one or more of the associated devices that are in the vehicle with the mobile device. The device control service can then initiate communication of the device quiet control to the associated devices in the vehicle to quiet the associated devices that are controllable from the mobile device.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2012Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Joseph H. Publication number: 20150315615Abstract: A batch fermentation process ferments a starch hydrolysate containing 80-98 weight percent of glucose based on total carbohydrate and 0.3-5% weight percent of isomaltose based on total carbohydrate to a fermentation product. A fermentation broth is formed containing a first portion of a total amount of the starch hydrolysate so that the fermentation broth has an initial glucose concentration of at least about 50 g/L. Fermentation is carried out until the fermentation broth contains 30 g/L or less of glucose. An effective amount of at least one active enzyme that converts isomaltose into glucose is adding to the fermentation broth. Then the remaining portion of the total amount of starch hydrolysate is fed into the fermentation broth to maintain a glucose concentration of from about 5 to about 15 g/L in the fermentation broth throughout the feeding step. The final fermentation broth containing the fermentation product is then produced.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2013Publication date: November 5, 2015Applicant: Cargill, IncorporatedInventors: Ravi GOKARN, Mattew PARSONS, Derran WALCKER, Joseph SPENCER

Patent number: 8637156Abstract: Layers of a passivating material and/or containing luminescent centers are deposited on phosphor particles or particles that contain a host material that is capable of capturing an excitation energy and transferring it to a luminescent center or layer. The layers are formed in an ALD process. The ALD process permits the formation of very thin layers. Coated phosphors have good resistance to ambient moisture and oxygen, and/or can be designed to emit a distribution of desired light wavelengths.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2012Date of Patent: January 28, 2014Inventors: Alan W.
